Three days of honey water diet hazards

April 13, 2023
The honey water diet replaces all three meals of the day with honey water or honey tea to achieve weight loss. Although honey water diet can bring us the benefits of weight loss and slimming, but does it bring harm to our body? Let's take a look at what are the dangers of implementing the honey water diet.

Causes malnutrition

Honey is composed of 80% carbohydrates i.e. sugar, while protein, vitamins and minerals are minimal and do not meet the nutritional needs of the body's activities, which can lead to a lack of nutrients in the body in the long run, thus causing malnutrition.

Occurrence of hypoglycemia

Generally every 100g of honey can provide 1334KJ of heat, even 200g of honey is far from enough to meet the normal energy needs of human beings (normal human beings need at least 4187KJ of energy per day), so it is easy to make people due to lack of energy leading to physiological disorders and lower metabolism, which brings about some corresponding diseases. Such as: hypoglycemia, dizziness, low blood sugar causes shock, etc.

Memory loss

Honey diet will make the intake of calories and fat is not much, and the brain's working power is from the body's fat, the body needs to burn fat to meet the normal functioning of the body. In the long run, it will cause damage to the nervous system of the brain tissue, leading to memory loss and inability to focus on work and study.

Causes constipation

Yes, you read it right, using honey water diet can possibly lead to constipation. Although honey has a laxative effect, but that is under normal dietary conditions. In the case of honey water diet, there is no normal diet, only honey water to replace the three meals a day, and the human body is excreted every day is the metabolic residue of the food we eat, if you eat very little will make the amount of feces less and affect the discharge, in the long run constipation will arise.

3 kinds of people should not implement the honey water diet

In addition to the hazards mentioned above, honey water diet is not suitable for some special people.

People with a cold and damp constitution

Honey has the effect of tonifying the spleen and stomach, laxative, relieving dry mouth, dry skin and dry stools, and has a calming effect on the mind. However, for those who have a cold and damp body, or those who often have edema, consuming honey can aggravate the dampness and do more harm than good. So people with a cold and wet constitution should not choose the honey water diet to lose weight.

Diabetics

Nutritional analysis reveals that the main component in honey is carbohydrates, of which glucose and fructose have the highest content. These two substances are monosaccharides and can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream without digestion after entering the intestinal tract. If a diabetic patient takes honey for a long time and in large quantities, it is definitely not good for the stability of blood sugar. Therefore, diabetic patients are also not suitable to use honey water diet.

Gout Patients

Gout is a chronic metabolic disease based on an abnormally high concentration of uric acid in the blood. Whether healthy or gout patients, oral or intravenous infusion of large amounts of fructose can cause an increase in blood uric acid, and gout patients are more pronounced. This may be due to the rapid metabolism of fructose in large amounts into the cells, which increases the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate. The molecular structure of adenosine triphosphate contains purine bases, which can release purines after decomposition, and eventually metabolize into uric acid, causing an increase in blood uric acid. Therefore, for people suffering from gout and hyperuricemia, it is not advisable to consume honey.
