Methods for Alleviating Skin Dullness in Women: Quick Relief Tips

January 17, 2024

There are many reasons for skin dullness, including lack of sleep and stress. Some women knowingly engage in activities that harm their health, leading to worsening skin condition. So, what can be done to alleviate skin dullness? Here are some methods that can provide quick relief.

Causes of skin dullness in women:

1. Lack of sleep: The nighttime is when skin cell renewal is most active. New cells grow, and old dead cells are shed away. If you stay up too late or don't get enough sleep, the metabolic function of the skin is disrupted, leading to thickening of the aging epidermis. This causes the skin to lose its transparency and appear dull and gray, even when wearing vibrant makeup.

2. Stress: When we are under stress, our bodies are in a tense state, causing blood vessels to constrict and impairing blood circulation. This can result in dull skin. Additionally, when you are excessively tired, the skin's metabolism slows down, and the accumulation of dead skin cells further contributes to dullness. If the skin is also dry and lacking moisture in the epidermis, the dullness and lack of transparency will be even more pronounced.

3. Inadequate cleansing: When foundation remains on the skin for a long time, it combines with sebum and dust to form dirt, which then oxidizes. If the cleansing is not thorough, the dirt will remain on the face, causing the skin to appear dull and lifeless. The area around the nose, where sebum secretion is the highest, requires extra attention. If the pores on the nose are clogged with dirt, the problem becomes even worse. Furthermore, when oxidized foundation continues to be exposed to UV rays, it can lead to the formation of peroxidized lipids, disrupting the skin's metabolism rhythm, requiring special attention.

4. UV rays: UVA rays can penetrate and damage the dermis, affecting collagen and elastin fibers, causing them to deteriorate and form clumps in the dermis. This makes the skin lose its translucency and appear yellowish and dull.

Try the following methods for quick relief:

1. Traditional Chinese medicine for spot treatment: For individuals with spots on their faces, especially women with chloasma or melasma, a liver-invigorating, stagnation-eliminating, and stasis-expelling decoction can be used. This is because most of these individuals belong to the category of liver qi stagnation, phlegm stasis accumulation.

The recommended ingredients for the decoction are 20g of Angelica sinensis, 20g of white moss skin, and 20g of Tribulus terrestris. After boiling, consume the decoction. It is recommended to consult a TCM dermatology specialist before taking these medicines. By using these three ingredients for about two months, the skin condition can be improved to some extent.

2. Blood-nourishing and complexion-improving: For individuals with dull skin, most of them belong to the category of spleen and stomach weakness and deficiency of qi and blood.

A homemade mask can be made using 30g of Poria cocos, 15g of Atractylodes macrocephala, and 15g of Angelica dahurica. Grind these ingredients into powder and mix them with water. Apply the mixture to the face. Use the mask 2-3 times a week and continue using it for a period of time to see results.

3. Drink tea for a healthy complexion: For women with cold uterus or those who are sensitive to cold, most of them have insufficient yang energy, which hinders the warming and circulation of meridians and impairs blood flow. This manifests as a lackluster complexion.

In this case, you can try drinking a Snow Lotus, Goji Berry, and Saffron drink. Brew 5g of Snow Lotus powder, 10g of goji berries, and 3g of saffron in water and drink it.

Reminder: When it comes to skincare and treatment, it is important to consult a professional doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Any use of medication should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
