Eating Right: Dietary Solutions for Menstrual Disorders

Whether menstruation is normal is a concern for many women, as it is closely related to fertility. However, there are many reasons for menstrual disorders in women, such as stress and unhealthy lifestyle habits. There are also many methods to regulate menstrual disorders, and among them, diet is something that many people enjoy. So, what should you eat if you have menstrual disorders?

1. Lamb porridge

Ingredients: 250g fresh lamb, 100g rice, appropriate amount of spring onion, ginger, and salt. Wash the lamb, cut it into slices, and cook it with rice, spring onion, ginger, and salt using the usual method until the lamb is cooked and tender.

Effect: Qi and blood tonifying, pain relief. Suitable for dysmenorrhea caused by deficiency of Qi and blood.

2. Pig skin jelly

Ingredients: 1000g pig skin, 250ml yellow wine, 250g sugar. Wash the pig skin, cut it into small pieces, add an appropriate amount of water, stew it over low heat until the liquid becomes thick, and then add sugar and yellow wine. Take it twice a day, dissolve it in boiling water, and drink it warm.

Effect: Nourishes blood and Yin, nourishes the kidneys and liver. It can treat symptoms such as blood deficiency and irregular menstruation in women, and has a better effect on those who experience back and leg pain.

3. Motherwort sautéed with shepherd's purse

Ingredients: 3g fresh motherwort, 30g fresh shepherd's purse, appropriate amount of vegetable oil. Wash the fresh motherwort and shepherd's purse, and cut them into sections. Put the iron pan on high heat, pour in the vegetable oil and heat it up, then add the fresh motherwort and shepherd's purse and stir-fry until cooked. Take it twice a day until the bleeding stops.

Effect: Motherwort can promote blood circulation, break up blood stasis, and regulate menstruation; shepherd's purse contains shepherd's purse acid, which can shorten bleeding and clotting time, thus achieving the purpose of stopping bleeding, especially effective for excessive menstrual bleeding caused by blood stasis.

4. Sesame liver

Ingredients: 250g pig liver, 1000g bean oil (actually consumes 100g), 100g sesame, 50g flour, 2 eggs, appropriate amount of salt, spring onion, and ginger. Cut the pig liver into thin slices, season it with salt, chopped spring onion, and ginger, dip it in flour, sesame, and beaten egg juice, then put it in a pot with bean oil, fry until fully cooked, and then remove it from the pot and serve it with a meal.

Effect: Nourishes blood and Yin, nourishes the liver and kidneys. However, this dietary therapy is not suitable for those with weak spleen and loose stools or diarrhea.

5. Pearl and jade porridge

Ingredients: 100g fresh Chinese yam, 100g raw Coix seed, 15g longan flesh, 100g glutinous rice. Cook the Coix seed and glutinous rice first, then add peeled and mashed Chinese yam and longan flesh to cook together into porridge.

Effect: Tonifies the spleen and Qi, nourishes the heart and spleen. Consuming it during menstruation helps to restore Qi and blood.

6. Stewed chicken with cuttlefish bone

Ingredients: 30g cuttlefish, 30g Chinese angelica, 100g chicken, appropriate amount of salt, monosodium glutamate. Cut the chicken into small pieces, slice the Chinese angelica, grind the cuttlefish bone, put them into a clay pot with 500ml of water, add an appropriate amount of salt, steam it in a steamer until cooked, and take it once a day. Generally, it takes 3-5 times to see results.
