The Huangdi Neijing states: "The wise nourish yang in spring and summer, and nourish yin in autumn and winter, following the natural order." This means that summer is the time to cultivate yang energy, a time for dispersal. During this period, we should not excessively seek coolness, consume cold drinks, or use air conditioning, as this will only hinder the dispersal of energy, damage the body's yang energy, and lead to a series of problems. This is especially true for individuals who already have insufficient yang energy, which may manifest as poor sexual function and decreased libido. In summer, it is particularly suitable to drink teas that nourish "yang". The following beverages are recommended:
Epimedium Tea
Ingredients: 20g of epimedium, 5g of tea leaves.
Method: Boil the ingredients in water or brew with boiling water. Drink regularly.
Benefits: It has a kidney-tonifying and yang-enhancing effect. It is suitable for the auxiliary treatment of sexual neurasthenia, such as premature ejaculation, impotence, and nocturnal emission.
Black Tea
Ingredients: 30g of black tea, 1 small piece of alum (about the size of a corn kernel).
Method: Put the alum into the black tea, brew with boiling water for one cup, cover tightly and let it steep for 10 minutes. Take one dose every evening, consuming it at once.
Benefits: It is suitable for impotence accompanied by fatigue, lack of energy, mental fatigue, and coldness in the limbs.
Milk Jade Dew
Ingredients: 80g of fried walnut meat, 45g of raw walnut meat, 60g of glutinous rice, 200g of milk.
Method: Rinse the glutinous rice, soak it in water for 1 hour, drain the water, grind it evenly with raw walnut meat, fried walnut meat, milk, and water, then filter out the walnut pulp with a cheesecloth. Boil water in a pot, add sugar, dissolve it completely, filter out the residue, and boil it again. Slowly pour in the walnut pulp, constantly stirring until it becomes a dew-like consistency, then stop the heat. Serve as tea.
Benefits: It warms and tonifies the lungs and kidneys, and helps gather yang energy. It is used for the auxiliary treatment of weakness and fatigue, wheezing and coughing, impotence, and nocturnal emission.
Ginseng Tea
Ingredients: 9g of ginseng, 3g of tea leaves.
Method: Boil the two ingredients in 500ml of water to make a decoction. Take one dose daily, warm.
Benefits: It has the effect of strengthening yang, replenishing essence, and invigorating the kidneys and qi.
