Although Huai Er has excellent health benefits, as it is a traditional Chinese medicine, improper use can easily lead to side effects. I suggest that everyone should learn how to use and dose this medicinal herb in daily life, and also understand how to identify Huai Er. Only by understanding these knowledge can we better avoid side effects. The specific prohibitions of drinking Huai Er soaked wine are as follows:

First: Usage and Dosage of Huai Er

Generally, Huai Er is mostly used internally as a traditional Chinese medicine. It can be brewed into a decoction or ground into powder after being dried. The dosage should be controlled between 2 and 3 qian (Chinese unit of weight), and excessive consumption should be avoided.

  Second: Identification of Huai Er

Most of the Huai Er sold in the market is light brown, purplish-brown, or brownish-brown. The surface is either sticky or loose, with a light brown or colorless color. The mycelium is long, slightly curved, and often branched. The cap of Huai Er is semi-circular and often in a tile-like arrangement. The outer surface of the cork is smooth and light brown, with a few rings. The flesh is yellowish-white and has a special aroma when dried. The outer wall of the tube is thick and smooth, and the pore opening is yellowish-white and polygonal.

Huai Er mostly grows on sandalwood, Sophora japonica, or locust trees. It is found in provinces and cities such as Sichuan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Shandong, and Hebei in China. Currently, there is less wild Huai Er, and most of it is cultivated.
