What to pay attention to on the diet of tooth decay

June 7, 2023
Dental caries is a common oral disease, and the occurrence of dental caries is related to many factors, among which the most influential is diet. So what should be noted in the diet of dental caries?

Eat less hard and rough food

Eating hard and rough food for a long time is easy to wear the teeth and gums, and when chewing, it will shock the nerve of teeth, which will easily "wake up" the nerve inside the tooth decay and cause toothache. Fried food such as fried peanuts, fried fava beans, fried chicken, fried fries and other fried food should be eaten less.

Eat less sweet food

Cane sugar has obvious caries-causing effect. Eating sweet food often will cause sugar to remain in the mouth, and if it is not cleaned in time, it will produce acid, making teeth eroded and local tissues damaged. Moreover, sweet and fatty foods can also affect the digestion and absorption of children.

Eat less acidic food

The formation of tooth decay is related to acidic food, acidic food accumulates in the teeth and produces excessive lactic acid, which erodes the surface of teeth and forms cavities. Therefore, people who have caries should eat less pomegranate, prunes, sour dates and other foods, and rinse the mouth after eating acidic foods to clean the food residues inside the teeth.

Don't eat too cold and too hot food

People who suffer from tooth decay will be more sensitive to the stimulation of hot and cold food because the nerve endings of the tooth pulp are exposed due to the damage of the teeth. Eating too cold or too hot food will easily stimulate the nerve endings and cause pain.

Stop drinking alcohol

Alcohol is contained in wine, after drinking, it will stimulate the nerve endings of dental pulp and cause pain. Children should not drink alcoholic beverages if they have tooth decay. In addition, it is also not suitable to drink carbonated drinks and coffee, etc.

Control the intake of fluoridated food

Fluorine is one of the most important elements to maintain dental health, it is good for calcification and metabolism of tooth tissue, helps teeth to enhance acid resistance and anti-caries ability, and effectively prevents tooth decay. When the daily intake of fluorine is less than 0.5ppm, the incidence of tooth decay will reach 70%-90%. However, if the intake of fluoride exceeds 1ppm, the teeth will gradually develop spots and become brittle. Therefore, the daily diet should control the intake of fluoride containing food, not too much and not too little.
