Why does the baby's head come out first during childbirth

There are always surprises in this world! When I was a child, I always thought I came out of the anus, and this pregnant woman really confirmed it. Most expectant mothers hope that their babies can be delivered naturally, which is very beneficial for the baby. However, during the process of natural childbirth, some mothers may encounter various problems. There was a pregnant woman who gave birth and the baby's head actually came out from the anus, which shocked the doctors.

How should expectant mothers exert force during childbirth:

Ms. Wang already has one child, and now she is about to give birth to her second child. As she approached her due date, she checked into the hospital. One night, she felt a lot of pain in her stomach, and after the doctor examined her, she said she was about to give birth. As an experienced mother, she thought it would be very smooth, but she was in so much pain that her face turned red. She exerted all her strength, and the fetus slowly descended.

As it was about to be born, the doctor found that the baby's head was protruding from Ms. Wang's anus. This surprised the doctor, but without much time to think, the doctor encouraged Ms. Wang to relax and not exert too much force, while using his hand to support the baby's head and slowly guide it back in.

After the doctor used his finger to examine inside the anus, he found a gap between Ms. Wang's rectal wall and vaginal wall. When the fetus descended, it was squeezed and happened to be pushed into the rectum. Later, the doctor used his finger to close the gap, and the baby was finally born through the birth canal. Fortunately, both mother and baby were safe!

Why does this situation occur?

The doctor explained, "Ms. Wang had colitis during pregnancy, which caused her intestinal wall to become thinner. Combined with excessive exertion during childbirth, this situation occurred." This was the first time the doctor had encountered such a situation in more than twenty years of medical practice. We should really commend the doctor for their calmness and accurate response in a critical situation!

How should expectant mothers exert force during childbirth:

1. Do not exert force when the cervix is not fully dilated

Exerting too much force when the cervix is not fully dilated can easily cause swelling of the cervix due to excessive compression, which can affect the dilation of the cervix and increase the duration and difficulty of childbirth.

2. Follow the doctor's guidance

At the beginning of each contraction, the doctor will instruct you to take a deep breath, then hold your breath and tighten your abdominal muscles as much as possible, and then exert as much force as possible towards the anus. If the contraction does not stop after one exertion, immediately exhale and inhale again to exert force. When there is an interval between contractions, expectant mothers should relax and rest.

When the baby's head is about to be delivered, stop exerting force, otherwise it is likely to cause the baby to be delivered too quickly, resulting in perineal tear.

3. Try not to shout loudly

Shouting loudly not only cannot relieve pain, but may also cause maternal hypoxia due to excessive ventilation, and consume too much energy.
