Why do women have menstrual periods? What are the reasons for irregular vaginal bleeding? How to take care of the uterus? Below, I will answer these questions one by one.

How does blood form in a woman's uterus?

This is related to the periodic changes in the endometrium of the uterus. The endometrium is divided into two layers, the outer layer is called the functional layer, and the changes in the menstrual cycle mainly occur in this layer. This layer undergoes shedding and repair once in each menstrual cycle. After the functional layer is shed during the menstrual period, a new functional layer is generated from the inner layer called the basal layer. The menstrual period usually lasts for 3 to 5 days, during which the functional layer of the endometrium is shed, causing an injury to the uterine lining. After 6 to 14 days following the menstrual period, the epithelial cells of the basal layer of the endometrium divide and proliferate, move towards the injured area, gradually repair and form a new functional layer. At this time, new egg cells are growing, developing, maturing, ovulating, forming a corpus luteum, and producing hormones in the ovaries, causing the endometrium to grow, shed, and bleed again, resulting in another menstrual period. The ovaries release one egg each month, thus forming a monthly menstrual cycle.

Causes of irregular vaginal bleeding

1. Intermittent vaginal bleeding: There is a possibility of primary fallopian tube cancer.

2. Irregular vaginal bleeding during the menstrual cycle: It is often functional bleeding, but endometrial cancer should be ruled out first.

3. Bleeding after sexual intercourse: It is often caused by cervical erosion, cervical polyps, cervical cancer, or submucosal fibroids.

4. Vaginal bleeding accompanied by white discharge: It is often considered as late-stage cervical cancer or endometrial cancer with infection.

5. Prolonged and continuous vaginal bleeding: It is often caused by malignant tumors of the reproductive organs, such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer, etc.

6. Spotting before and after menstruation: A small amount of bloody discharge a few days before or after the menstrual period, generally indicates ovarian dysfunction, but it may also be endometriosis.

7. Increased menstrual flow and prolonged duration but normal cycle: It is often caused by uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, or functional bleeding. In addition, women using intrauterine devices may also experience increased menstrual flow.

8. Irregular bleeding after menopause: For women of childbearing age, diseases related to pregnancy, such as miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and molar pregnancy, should be considered. For postmenopausal women, there is a greater possibility of malignant tumors.

9. Intermenstrual bleeding: It occurs between two menstrual periods, lasts for 3-4 days, and when the amount of bleeding is very small, it is mostly ovulation bleeding.

Take care of the uterus by eating these foods

1. Radish

Radish is not only a vegetable but also a good medicine. It is known as "underground ginseng" in traditional Chinese medicine. Radish has a high water content and is rich in vitamin C and minerals.

Radish has excellent anti-cancer effects and can effectively inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Therefore, to prevent uterine diseases, women can eat more radishes.

2. Cereal foods

Cereal foods contain a large amount of vitamin E, protein, starch, etc. Vitamin E not only has antioxidant effects but also promotes the growth of uterine cells, which is beneficial for uterine development and ovarian health.

Common cereal foods include corn, sesame, soybeans, black beans, barley, wheat, millet, etc.

3. Nuts

Nuts are known for their plant essence and are rich in nutrients. They are high in protein, similar to legumes, and contain vitamin E and trace elements, which have a repairing effect on uterine injuries.

Common nuts include almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios, pine nuts, etc.
