January 18, 2024

For women, most of them tend to have a cold constitution, and there is a reason for this. What causes women to have a cold constitution? Let's find out together!

Reasons why women are more likely to have a cold constitution

1. Dieting

Some women eat fruits as their main source of food in order to lose weight. They often eat only vegetables and fruits, which is actually a very wrong behavior.

Because vegetables and fruits have a cooling property, eating them frequently can easily lead to a cold constitution.

2. Sitting in front of the computer all day at work

Many women sit in front of a computer for long periods of time due to work requirements. They don't exercise even after work and spend a long time sitting in front of the TV instead of going outdoors for physical activity.

3. Drinking herbal tea

Some women who often have acne have heard that drinking herbal tea can prevent and treat acne, so they choose to drink a lot of herbal tea.

However, herbal tea is a beverage made from Chinese medicine ingredients and has a cooling property. Therefore, drinking herbal tea regularly can damage yang energy and lead to a cold constitution.

4. Excessive pursuit of beauty

Nowadays, many women like to wear low-waisted and low-cut clothes, as well as tight pants and short skirts. They even wear skirts in winter and only wear thin socks, which makes their lower body feel frozen.

We have all heard the saying: "Cold starts from the feet." Wearing skirts frequently can easily lead to a cold constitution.

How to regulate a cold constitution

1. Apply hot compress to the abdomen

For women with a cold constitution, the abdomen is the most prone to coldness, which affects the whole body. Therefore, it is advisable to regularly apply a hot compress to the abdomen or use a warm pad when going out.

2. Tap the gallbladder meridian regularly

Many women have a hot upper body and a cold lower body, which is closely related to poor blood circulation in the lower body. Therefore, tapping the gallbladder meridian can promote blood circulation in the lower body.

3. Soak the feet in hot water

9 p.m. every night is the best time to soak your feet because the body starts its detoxification process at this time. Soaking your feet can speed up blood circulation and effectively eliminate toxins. It is recommended for women with a cold constitution to add some mugwort leaves or ginger slices to the hot water to dispel coldness.

Remember to control the water temperature at around 40°C, so that it is comfortable and not scalding. Soak for about 5 minutes and then remove your feet.

4. Eat warm foods

Eating warm foods can promote blood circulation in the body. In winter, it is even more important to nourish the body with warmth. However, avoid consuming foods with a hot property, as it can worsen the cold and dryness and make it more difficult to regulate.

Warm foods include beef, lamb, seafood, si shen (a Chinese herbal mixture), glutinous rice, brown rice, soybeans, tofu, sesame, brown sugar, walnut kernels, pine nuts, Chinese chives, carrots, cabbage, spinach, apricots, peaches, papaya, etc.
