Mastering the Correct Facial Cleansing Method for Successful Makeup Removal

December 20, 2023

Beautiful makeup can make people look radiant and have a good mood all day long. However, removing makeup at night can be a big hassle. If facial cleansing is not thorough or the chosen makeup remover lacks sufficient cleansing power, it can burden the skin. Therefore, mastering the correct facial cleansing method is important for successful makeup removal.

Step 1: Wash hands

Before washing the face, it is important to clean the hands. Rub the palms, backs of hands, and spaces between fingers with soap, and rinse with clean water at the end.

Step 2: Create foam

Pour the facial cleanser into the palm and gently rub to create foam.

Step 3: Massage

Start cleaning from the forehead, moving downwards. Use circular motions with both hands on the cheeks and jawline. For the sides of the nose in the T-zone, rub from the sides of the nose to the tip of the nose in an upward and downward motion. For the area between the bridge of the nose and eyebrows, pucker the mouth and clean by moving in circles.

Step 4: Rinse

Turn on the faucet and rinse off the foam from the face with flowing water. Make sure to clean every part of the face, including the recessed areas such as the eye sockets, the sides of the nose, temples, and hairline, to avoid leaving any cleanser on the face that could cause acne or allergies.

Step 5: Pat dry

After cleansing, use a clean tissue or cotton pad to gently pat dry the water droplets on the face. It is not recommended to use a towel as it may contain bacteria and cause secondary contamination to the skin.

Friendly reminder: The correct direction for washing the face is from bottom to top, not from top to bottom.
