Postpartum women are relatively weak in the puerperium, and their metabolism is in the process of adjustment. They are more sensitive to cold stimuli. Therefore, brushing and rinsing should be different from usual, and attention should be paid to the method. Do not harm your teeth during this period to avoid lifelong pain.
Soak the toothbrush before brushing
Before brushing, soak the toothbrush in warm water. It is best to use a special postpartum toothbrush, which is made of sponge or soft bristles to reduce damage to teeth and gums.
Brush once in the morning and once before bed. Rinse your mouth after meals. After brushing your teeth at night, do not eat anything, especially sweets. If you have the habit of eating supper, brush your teeth again after supper. In order to protect your teeth, postpartum women must develop the habit of brushing their teeth every day.
Use finger brushing method within 3 days after delivery
Finger brushing can promote blood circulation, strengthen teeth, and prevent loose teeth. The specific method is to wash the right index finger or wrap it with clean gauze, then squeeze toothpaste on the finger, and rub it up and down like using a toothbrush, then massage the gums with the index finger several times.
Brushing action should be gentle
The brushing action should be gentle, not vigorous, and should not be brushed horizontally. Use a vertical brushing method, starting from top to bottom for upper teeth, and from bottom to top for lower teeth. Brush back and forth on the occlusal surface, and brush both inside and outside to keep the teeth clean.
