Guanmutong, a traditional Chinese medicine, is the dried stem of the plant called Northeast Guanmutong. It has a bitter taste and a cold nature. Its functions include clearing heart fire, promoting urination, regulating menstruation, and promoting lactation. However, it should be used with caution due to its dosage.

Functions of Guanmutong
It is used for treating mouth ulcers, restlessness with red urine, edema, painful and difficult urination, abnormal vaginal discharge, amenorrhea, and insufficient lactation.
Prescriptions with Guanmutong
1. For urinary tract infection and painful urination: Take 6g of Guanmutong and 50g of Portulaca oleracea, decoct in water and take orally.
2. For conjunctivitis: Take an appropriate amount of Guanmutong, soak in boiling water, and use the liquid for eye wash. (This prescription is from "Changbai Mountain Herbal Medicine Records")
Poisoning from Guanmutong
1. It should be used with caution in individuals without damp-heat syndrome and pregnant women.
2. Overdose of Guanmutong can cause acute renal failure and even death.
Symptoms of poisoning include discomfort in the upper abdomen, followed by vomiting, headache, chest tightness, abdominal distension and pain, and diarrhea; or facial edema, frequent urination, urgency of urination, decreased urine output, gradual onset of generalized edema, and confusion.
Dosage of Guanmutong
For oral administration: Decoct 3-6g of Guanmutong.
For external use: Use an appropriate amount for fumigation and washing.
