Liu Jinyu is a traditional Chinese medicine, a perennial herb with a fragrant aroma. It is the whole plant of the Compositae plant Artemisia anomala. It has the effects of healing wounds and stopping bleeding, promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation, improving digestion and resolving food stagnation, and stimulating the spleen and increasing appetite.

Liu Jinyu Medicinal Properties
The dried whole plant with flowers is 60-90cm long, usually bent, with a diameter of 2-4mm. The surface is brownish-yellow to brown, often covered with white hairs. The stem is firm and hard, with a fibrous appearance when broken, yellowish-white, and loosely centralized.
The leaves are opposite, usually dried and shriveled or fallen off, with a dark green surface and a grayish-green back, covered with white hairs, brittle and easily broken or fallen off.
The twigs have flower spikes and are yellowish-brown. It has a fragrant smell and a mild taste. The ones with green leaves, yellow flower spikes, no mold spots, and impurities are preferred.
Commonly Used Liu Jinyu Prescriptions
1. Treatment of Wounds
Grind an appropriate amount of Liu Jinyu into fine powder and apply it to the wound. Apply once in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
2. Treatment of Burns
Grind Liu Jinyu into fine powder. Grind glutinous rice into rice paste, then add the medicine powder and mix well, and apply it to the affected area.
In general, after a burn, immediately apply salt to the affected area, and then apply the above-mentioned medication.

3. Treatment of Hemorrhage
Take an appropriate amount of Liu Jinyu. Grind Liu Jinyu into fine powder. Take 5g each time, and take it with tea.
4. Treatment of Postpartum Retained Lochia
Take 30g of Liu Jinyu and Anemarrhena, 60g of Angelica sinensis and Calamus, and 45g of Peach Kernel. Grind the above 5 Chinese medicines into fine powder.
Take 4g each time, decoct in water, remove the residue, take it on an empty stomach, and take it twice a day.
5. Treatment of Postpartum Various Diseases Related to Blood Circulation
Take an equal amount of Liu Jinyu and Licorice. Grind the above Chinese medicines into a powder the size of a soybean. Take 6g each time, decoct in water for 30 minutes, then pour into white wine and simmer for 15 minutes, remove the residue, take the juice, and take it warm.

1. Effects on the Liver
Concentrated decoction of Yin Xing Cao (a variety of Liu Jinyu) can significantly reduce the high serum alanine aminotransferase (SGPT) caused by acetic acid phenol in rats; it has significant choleretic effects on anesthetized dogs and rats.
The total alkaloids and total flavonoids of Liu Jinyu can prevent and treat the high SGPT caused by acetic acid phenol liver damage in rats, and are effective components of Liu Jinyu decoction for preventing and treating phenol liver damage.
2. Antibacterial Effects
Yin Xing Cao has bactericidal effects on Shigella sonnei and Shigella dysenteriae, and bacteriostatic effects on Shigella flexneri, Shigella boydii, Escherichia coli, and Proteus vulgaris.
Contraindications of Liu Jinyu
1. It is not suitable for those with deficiency of qi and blood or spleen deficiency with diarrhea.
2. "Wei Sheng Yi Jian Fang": Do not take too much, as it may cause vomiting and diarrhea.
3. "Ben Cao Jing Shu": Patients with deficiency of qi and blood, weak spleen and stomach, and prone to diarrhea should not take it.
