Qianzheng San is a commonly used medicine for dispelling wind and transforming phlegm. It is composed of three traditional Chinese medicines: Bai Fuzi, Bai Jiangcan, and Quan Xie. It can be used to treat facial wind stroke. However, due to the high toxicity of the ingredients in Qianzheng San, caution must be exercised when using it.
【Composition】
Bai Fuzi, Bai Jiangcan, Quan Xie, each in equal parts, and used raw.
【Dosage and Administration】
Ground into fine powder, take 3g each time, 2-3 times per day, taken with warm wine; can also be made into a decoction, the dosage can be adjusted according to the original proportion.
【Therapeutic Effects and Indications】
Qianzheng San has the effects of dispelling wind, transforming phlegm, and opening collaterals to stop spasms. It is mainly used for wind stroke in the head and face meridians. Symptoms include deviation of the mouth and eyes, facial twitching, pale red tongue, and white coating.
【Pharmacological Analysis】
Bai Fuzi in Qianzheng San has a warm and pungent nature, and is good at dispelling wind and transforming phlegm, especially for treating wind in the head and face. Quan Xie and Bai Jiangcan both have the effects of dispelling wind and stopping spasms, with Quan Xie being especially good at opening collaterals, and Bai Jiangcan having the additional effect of transforming phlegm. Together, they are complementary medicines.
Taking Qianzheng San with warm wine can promote blood circulation and facilitate the absorption of the medicine into the meridians, reaching the affected area directly. When these medicines are used together, they work synergistically to dispel wind, transform phlegm, and open the meridians, thus treating the disease.
This formula is commonly used to treat wind and phlegm obstructing the head and face meridians. For patients with severe wind invasion at the early stage, it is recommended to add Qianghuo, Fangfeng, and Baizhi to dispel the wind. For patients who have had the disease for a long time without improvement, adding Wugong, Dilong, Tianma, Taoren, and Honghua can help dispel wind, transform stasis, and open the collaterals.
【Precautions】
This formula should not be used for patients with qi deficiency and blood stasis or patients with internal liver wind causing facial deviation or hemiplegia. Both Fuzi and Quan Xie in the formula are toxic substances, so the dosage should be used with caution.
