【Contraindications】

  1. Suitable for people with insufficient yang energy.

According to Song Daiyi, associate professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Guyuan Gao is a food for nourishing blood and replenishing vitality. The gelatin and red dates in the Gao can replenish blood, black sesame and walnut can replenish the kidneys, and rock sugar can moisturize. Because the preparation is very delicate and easy to digest and absorb, some people say it is the best choice for winter nutrition for people of all ages.

Whether hypertensive patients can eat Guyuan Gao depends on their physical condition. If hypertensive patients have a constitution characterized by cold hands and feet, intolerance to cold, and poor energy, as long as their blood pressure is not particularly high, they can eat Guyuan Gao appropriately. During the consumption of Guyuan Gao, blood pressure should be closely monitored, as it has a good hemostatic effect and can increase red blood cells, making the blood thick and prone to forming blood clots, so one should not be careless.

  2. Not suitable for those with excessive yin and hyperactive fire.

Hypertensive patients with excessive yin and hyperactive fire should not consume Guyuan Gao. For example, patients with symptoms such as insomnia, frequent dreams, irritability, etc. Those with loose stools or diarrhea, phlegm-heat cough, hypertensive patients with internal fire and unresolved external pathogens should avoid taking Guyuan Gao, otherwise it will have the opposite effect. In addition, although Guyuan Gao contains gelatin, wolfberry, and other ingredients that can nourish blood and replenish vitality, it does not have a direct effect on treating hypertension, so using Guyuan Gao to treat hypertension is completely unfounded.
