Dabanhia Wan, the name of a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, is derived from Volume 63 of the "Sheng Ji Zong Lu". It is used to eliminate phlegm and promote qi circulation. It is mainly used to treat coughing.
[Composition] 4 liang of Banxia (washed with boiling water 7 times, remove slipperiness, dried and ground into powder), 3 liang of fresh ginger (finely grated), 3 liang of honey, 2 liang of Qingzhou jujube (boil and remove the flesh, peel and core, put into a silver stone container with fresh ginger and honey, cook until it becomes thick), half liang of muxiang, half liang of chenxiang, half liang of Qingju peel (soaked in water to remove the white part, dried), half liang of baizhu, half liang of chenju peel (soaked in water to remove the white part, dried), half liang of dried ginger (fried), half liang of fuzi (cracked and peeled), half liang of rou dou kou (peeled), half liang of hong dou kou.
[Preparation] Grind the above 13 ingredients into powder, except for the first 4 ingredients, and mix with Banxia paste to form pills the size of a wutong seed.
[Functions and Indications] Dabanhia Wan is used to treat phlegm accumulation, stagnant diaphragm, coughing and dyspnea.
[Dosage and Administration] Take 10 pills each time, swallow with dried ginger and jujube decoction. Increase to 15 pills if necessary.
[Introduction to Medicinal Ingredients]
Banxia: It dries dampness, transforms phlegm, reduces counterflow and stops vomiting, and disperses masses. It is used to treat phlegm-damp cold, vomiting, regurgitation, cough with abundant phlegm, distension and fullness in the chest and diaphragm, phlegm-induced headache, dizziness, and insomnia. It can also be used externally to treat abscesses and swelling. It is used for cough with abundant phlegm, phlegm-retention dizziness, internal phlegm-induced dizziness, vomiting, regurgitation, chest and epigastric distension, and plum pit disorder. It can be used externally to treat abscesses and swelling caused by phlegm nodules. Ginger and Banxia are often used together to reduce counterflow and stop vomiting.
Fresh Ginger: In hot weather, it has the effects of stimulation, sweating, cooling, and refreshing. It can relieve fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, insomnia, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain. Ginger also has the function of invigorating the stomach and increasing appetite. In hot weather, saliva and ginger can also relieve or alleviate stomach diseases.
Muxiang: It promotes qi circulation, relieves pain, invigorates the spleen, and aids digestion. It can be used for epigastric and abdominal pain and distension due to spleen and stomach qi stagnation, as well as flank pain caused by liver and gallbladder qi stagnation. It invigorates the spleen and dispels stagnation. It can be used to treat abdominal pain, diarrhea, and tenesmus.
Baizhu: It strengthens the spleen and boosts qi, dries dampness, promotes diuresis, stops sweating, and stabilizes the fetus. It can be used for spleen deficiency with reduced appetite, abdominal distension, and diarrhea, phlegm-retention dizziness, edema, spontaneous sweating, and restless fetus. It can eliminate dampness, invigorate the spleen and aid digestion, warm the middle, eliminate dampness from the spleen and stomach, relieve gastric heat, strengthen the spleen and stomach, improve appetite, alleviate thirst, and stabilize the fetus.
Fuzi: It restores yang and rescues collapse, tonifies fire and assists yang, dispels cold and dampness. It is used to treat excessive yin and insufficient yang, loss of yang due to profuse sweating, vomiting, and diarrhea, cold pain in the heart and abdomen, cold diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency, edema in the feet, slow convulsions in children, wind-cold-dampness arthralgia, sprain and contraction, impotence, cold uterus, ulceration and leakage, and all diseases caused by cold and dampness.
