We all know that in life, Chinese herbs cannot be used randomly, otherwise it will produce toxicity. As a traditional Chinese medicine for reducing swelling and relieving pain, Gan Sui also has certain toxicity. Now let me introduce some precautions about Gan Sui.
[Effects and Functions of Gan Sui]
1. Eliminating ascites
You can mash 5 whole green onions, add 1 qian (3.75 grams) of powdered Gan Sui, mix well, and then apply vinegar on the navel before use to prevent infection and skin irritation;
Then apply the medicine on the navel and cover it with gauze, fix it, and generally be able to urinate or have watery stools within 2-4 hours. This method is effective in reducing ascites.
2. Treating palpitations and excessive phlegm
Gan Sui has the function of treating palpitations and excessive phlegm. You can mix 10 grams of Gan Sui without the heart, 10 grams of peeled purple Euphorbia, and 10 grams of white mustard seeds, grind them into fine powder, cook them into dough-like pellets the size of phoenix tree seeds, and dry them in the sun. Take 7-10 pellets with diluted ginger soup before going to bed.
3. Relieving edema
Gan Sui has the function of relieving edema. You can use 9 grams of Houttuynia cordata and 9 grams of Gan Sui, decoct them in water, and take the medicine.
[Application Methods of Gan Sui]
1. Treating edema and bloating in the abdomen: 6.6 grams of Gan Sui (fried), 45 grams of black cow. Grind into powder, decoct in water, and drink it frequently.
2. Treating lumbago caused by dampness, swollen limbs, as well as rib pain and dry mouth and yellow eyes caused by alcohol damage: 30 grams of Gan Sui (boiled), 15 grams of Angelica sinensis, and 15 grams of tangerine peel. Grind into powder. Take 9 grams each time, drink it before meals with wine.
3. Treating sudden deafness: Blow Gan Sui powder into the left ear, blow licorice powder into the right ear, and it will take effect immediately. Alternatively, wrap Gan Sui powder in cotton and insert it into the ear, or chew licorice in the mouth.
4. Treating constipation: 30 grams of Gan Sui (fried), 0.3 grams of Aglaia odorata. Grind the above two ingredients into powder. Take 3 grams each time, drink it with warm honey wine, regardless of the amount.
5. Treating polydipsia: 15 grams of Gan Sui (fried until it turns dark brown), 30 grams of coptis (remove the beard). Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, soak in water, steam into cakes, and roll them into pills the size of mung beans. Take two pills each time, drink it with peppermint soup, regardless of the time. Avoid licorice for three days.
[Precautions for Gan Sui]
1. Pregnant women should avoid using it, and generally stop using it after the illness is cured.
2. It is advisable to use simmered Gan Sui or vinegar-treated Gan Sui, because both of them are stronger after simmering and should not be used.
3. Traditional experience suggests that Gan Sui should not be mixed with yuanhua and purple Euphorbia, but the results of modern experiments are inconsistent.
Some reports indicate that according to experiments on rabbits, when Gan Sui (or yuanhua, purple Euphorbia) is combined with licorice, there are no special changes in respiration, heart rate, body temperature, and pupil response, and there are different reactions when the ratio of licorice used varies.
