The characteristics of Dragon's Beard Grass
Dried stems are flat and cylindrical or linear, measuring 30-50 cm long and 1-1.5 mm in diameter. The apex is gradually pointed, slightly thicker near the base, with a smooth surface, pale yellow-green in color, and with vertical fine striations. The texture is firm yet soft.
The cross-section is yellowish-white with loose white pith in the center, but not well-developed. It has no odor and a mild taste. The ones with uniform drying and a green color are preferred.
The main uses of Dragon's Beard Grass
It promotes diuresis and relieves stranguria, clears heat, and calms the mind.
It is used to treat red and painful urine, hot and painful urination, nephritis edema, dizziness, toothache, nosebleeds, sore throat, restlessness and insomnia, polydipsia, and nocturnal emission.
The medicinal uses of Dragon's Beard Grass
1. Treatment of urinary tract infections
Take one or two liang (about 50-100 grams) of Dragon's Beard Grass and Water Plantain, and three qian (about 9 grams) of Tuckahoe; or take one or two liang of Dragon's Beard Grass, Small Thistle Grass, and Ullucus, and two liang of White Grass Root. Decoct with water and take orally.
2. Treatment of insomnia and neurasthenia
Take two liang of fresh Dragon's Beard Grass, one liang of Night-Blooming Cereus, and five qian of Salvia miltiorrhiza. Decoct with water and take orally.
3. Treatment of diabetes
Take two liang of Dragon's Beard Grass and one liang of Deer Antler Grass. Decoct with water and take orally.
