January 2, 2024

Qianzheng San is a traditional medicinal formula that is primarily used to dispel wind and phlegm. It can be used to treat facial nerve paralysis. However, it is important to note that Qianzheng San contains certain toxic components, so the dosage must be carefully observed when using it.

Qianzheng San is a basic formula for treating facial nerve paralysis. It consists of Bai Fu Zi and Bai Jiang Can to dispel wind and phlegm and relieve spasms. It is supplemented with Quan Xie to dispel wind and stop convulsions. It is taken with warm wine to directly target the affected area in the head and face. The key diagnostic point for clinical application is facial and ocular deviation.

In modern times, Qianzheng San is mainly used to treat facial nerve paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, sequelae of stroke, Tourette syndrome, vascular neurogenic headache, migraine, and other neurological disorders.

In clinical practice, adding Wu Gong and Tian Ma to dispel wind and relieve spasms can enhance the effectiveness of the formula. However, it should be noted that Bai Fu Zi and Quan Xie used in the formula are toxic substances, so the dosage should not be excessive and the treatment duration should not be too long.

There have been numerous clinical studies related to this formula, often combined with acupuncture and electroacupuncture. If there is excessive external pathogenic factors, Dae Qin Jiao Tang and Chuan Xiong Tea can be used to dispel them. If there is long-term illness with blood stasis, Si Wu Tang and Tao Hong Si Wu Tang can be used. If there is long-term illness with deficiency, Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang, and Yu Ping Feng San can be used. In addition, nutritional neurotrophic drugs such as methylcobalamin can also be used in combination.

Precautions: This formula should not be used for cases of facial and ocular deviation or hemiplegia caused by qi deficiency, blood stasis, or liver wind internal movement. Both Fu Zi and Quan Xie in the formula are toxic substances, so the dosage should be used with caution.
