American ginseng has excellent nourishing effects, but it is not suitable for everyone. Although American ginseng is suitable for a wide range of people, if the medicine is not appropriate, it can also have a counter effect.

In Chinese medicine, American ginseng is considered to have a cold and cool nature. It can tonify qi and nourish yin, clear heat and relieve agitation, nourish the stomach and generate fluids. It is commonly used for symptoms such as long-term cough due to lung deficiency, dryness of the mouth and throat, hot palms, restlessness and insomnia, fatigue in the limbs, and shortness of breath due to blood loss. It is not suitable for those with deficient yang and cold and dampness in the stomach. For example, pale complexion, facial swelling and limb edema, aversion to cold, slow heartbeat, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and bloating, loose stools, and white and greasy tongue coating, as well as impotence, premature ejaculation, excessive seminal emission in men, and reduced sexual desire, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and profuse vaginal discharge in women, should all avoid the use of American ginseng. Children with delayed growth and poor digestion should not take American ginseng. It is also not suitable for those with cold and dampness caused by colds, coughs, or acute infections. In addition, "do not tonify unless deficient", if there are no discomforts in the body, it is not advisable to take American ginseng tablets regularly.

The seasonal aspect should also be considered when taking American ginseng. It is more suitable to take American ginseng in spring and summer, and not suitable to take ginseng or red ginseng. On the other hand, it is more suitable to take ginseng in autumn and winter.

American ginseng contains a component called ginsenosides, which can enhance the body's immune system. Therefore, weak individuals such as the elderly and seriously ill patients can strengthen their constitution by regularly taking American ginseng. And for people with chronic diseases, such as chronic hepatitis B patients, taking American ginseng can also help control and improve the condition.

Compared to ginseng, the qi-tonifying effect of American ginseng is much milder and it is not as warm and drying as ginseng, so there are no special dosage requirements. Taking 4-6 tablets per day, which is equivalent to not exceeding 5 grams of raw herbs, generally does not produce side effects. In terms of administration, it is better not to take it with strong tea or coffee to avoid reducing its effectiveness. It is important to drink plenty of water and not take it with other medications at the same time.
