【Location】Located in the lower back, on the midline of the posterior aspect, at the depression below the spinous process of the first lumbar vertebra.
【Anatomy】Located in the lumbar back fascia, supraspinous ligament, and interspinous ligament; contains the posterior branch of the lumbar artery and the venous plexus between the spinous processes; innervated by the medial branch of the posterior branch of the lumbar nerve.
【Indications】Used for severe lumbar pain, abdominal distention, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and dysentery.
【Technique】Straight insertion or oblique insertion upwards for 0.5 to 1 inch.
【Combination】Used in combination with Weizhong and Shenshu to treat severe lumbar pain; used in combination with Zusanli and Taibai to treat indigestion and diarrhea.
