White Medicine Wine: Nourishing the Spleen and Invigorating Qi and Blood

White Medicine Wine is a good brew that nourishes qi and blood. It is made from a variety of Chinese herbs, all of which are white and clean in quality, hence the name White Medicine Wine. It has the effects of appetizing and invigorating the spleen, and nourishing the deficiency caused by exertion.
 


 

【Chinese Herbal Formula】

White Poria 5 qian, White Atractylodes 5 qian, Pollen 5 qian, Chinese Yam (stir-fried) 5 qian, Coix Seed 5 qian, Euryale Seed (powdered) 5 qian, Achyranthes Root 5 qian, White Cardamom (peeled) 3 qian.

【Preparation Method】

Crush the above herbs, put them in a gauze bag, seal it and soak it in wine for 2 weeks. (Use 10 jin of distilled spirits, preferably with added white honey, for best results.)

【Functions and Indications】

This wine has the effects of appetizing and invigorating the spleen, nourishing deficiency caused by exertion, and promoting the transformation of qi into blood. It is used for symptoms such as poor appetite and weak digestion due to weak spleen and stomach, fullness after meals, undigested grains, difficulty urinating, loose stools, and emaciation.

【Dosage】

Twice daily, 20-30 ml each time

White Poria: Promotes urination and eliminates dampness; invigorates the spleen and stomach; calms the mind and soothes the spirit. Used for symptoms such as difficulty urinating, edema, phlegm retention with cough, vomiting, weak spleen with poor appetite, diarrhea, palpitations and restlessness, insomnia and forgetfulness, and turbid emissions.

White Atractylodes: White Atractylodes has the effects of invigorating the spleen and replenishing qi, drying dampness and promoting diuresis, stopping sweating, and calming the fetus. It is used for symptoms such as weak spleen with poor appetite, abdominal distension and diarrhea, phlegm retention and dizziness, edema, spontaneous sweating, and restless fetus.

Coix Seed: Coix Seed has the effects of nourishing the kidney and securing essence, nourishing the spleen and stopping diarrhea, and eliminating dampness and stopping leucorrhea. It is commonly used for symptoms such as nocturnal emissions and spermatorrhea, frequent urination, long-term diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, turbid emissions, and excessive vaginal discharge.

Achyranthes Root: Promotes blood circulation and regulates menstruation; treats postpartum abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, nosebleeds, toothache from deficient fire, and edema and swelling in the legs; when used in a cooked form, it nourishes the liver and kidneys and strengthens the waist and knees; treats lumbar and knee pain, liver and kidney deficiency, and bruises caused by falls or blows.

White Cardamom: Eliminates dampness and promotes qi circulation; warms the middle and stops vomiting; stimulates appetite and aids digestion. Mainly used for symptoms such as damp obstruction with stagnant qi, disharmony between the spleen and stomach, abdominal distension and fullness, loss of appetite, early-stage damp-heat, chest tightness and lack of appetite, cold vomiting, and indigestion.
