Sangju Wine: A Lung-Clearing Medicinal Elixir

Sangju wine is a common lung-clearing medicinal wine, mainly made from mulberry leaves, chrysanthemum flowers, almonds, and other materials. Although its preparation method is very simple, its nutritional benefits are not weak at all.


【Ingredients】

Mulberry leaves, chrysanthemum flowers, almonds, forsythia fruit, each 30 grams; peppermint, licorice, each 10 grams; balloon flower roots, 20 grams; reed roots, 35 grams.

【Preparation Method】

Crush the ingredients and soak them in 1000 ml of rice wine in a bottle. Seal the bottle and after 5 days, remove the sediments and keep the juice for later use.

【Medicinal Analysis】

Mulberry leaves: They have the effects of dispersing wind-heat, nourishing and moisturizing the lungs, clearing the liver, and improving eyesight. They can treat wind-heat colds, lung heat cough, dizziness, headache, and red and blurry eyes.

Chrysanthemum flowers: They disperse wind and clear heat, calm the liver, improve eyesight, and detoxify. They are used to treat wind-heat colds, headaches, dizziness, red and swollen eyes, and blurry vision, as well as sores, boils, and swelling.

Peppermint: It is a sweating and antipyretic medicine, used to treat influenza, headaches, red eyes, fever, sore throat, and swollen gums.

Licorice: It has the effects of tonifying the spleen, replenishing qi, clearing heat, detoxifying, resolving phlegm, stopping cough, relieving pain, and harmonizing other medicines. It is commonly used for weak spleen and stomach, fatigue, palpitations, shortness of breath, cough with abundant phlegm, and abdominal and limb spasms and pains.

Balloon flower roots: They have the effects of clearing heat and generating fluids, relieving restlessness, stopping vomiting, and promoting diuresis. They are used to treat fever with restlessness and thirst, gastric heat with vomiting, lung heat with cough, lung abscess with purulent expectoration, and painful and difficult urination due to heat.
