Wuweizi Wine: A Traditional Chinese Prescription for Treating Rouke

  Wuweizi Wine

  [Composition]

  1 liang of Wuweizi, 1 liang of Fangfeng (remove the forks), 1 liang of Gouqizi (use the root's white skin, file it), 1 liang of Niuxi, 1 fall of Moutan (remove the core), 1 liang of Roucongrong (cut, stir-fry), 1 liang of Huangqin (remove the black core), 1 liang of Baizhu, 1 liang of Danshen (remove the soil sprouts, lightly stir-fry), 1 liang of Danggui (cut, bake), 1 liang of Wujia peel (file), 1 liang of Ze Xie, 1 liang of Gancao (bake, grind), 1 liang of Zhike (fried with bran, remove the core), 1 liang of Gui (remove the rough skin), 1 liang of Houpo (remove the rough skin, coat with ginger juice and bake 5 times), 1 liang of Zhimu (bake), 1 liang of Xixin (remove the roots and leaves, lightly stir-fry), 1 liang of Baizhi (stir-fry).

  [Indications]

  Tonify the deficiency and expel the excess, relieve muscle numbness, and treat the disease named Rouke.

  [Usage and Dosage]

  Take 5 he (about 150g) each time, on an empty stomach, at noon, and before bed. Gradually increase the dosage to 7 he (about 210g) or 1 liter, but avoid intoxication and vomiting.

  [Preparation Method]

  File the ingredients to the size of mung beans, put them in a silk bag, and soak them in 2 dou of good wine, seal tightly, and soak for 7 days.
 


 

  [Introduction of Medicinal Materials]

  Wuweizi: It is effective in nourishing the lungs and kidneys, stopping thirst and sweating, nourishing essence and stopping diarrhea, and calming the mind. It is used to treat chronic cough and asthma, thirst due to yin deficiency, dry mouth, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, nocturnal emission, chronic diarrhea, dilated pupils, forgetfulness, and insomnia. It is recently used to reduce alanine aminotransferase.

  Danggui: It mainly treats blood deficiency and regulates menstruation, relieves pain, moisturizes dryness, and smoothens the intestines. It is used to treat irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain due to masses, excessive menstruation, blood deficiency headache, dizziness, flaccidity, difficult bowel movements, recurrent dysentery, carbuncles, and injuries caused by falls.

  Fangfeng: It is effective in dispelling wind, resolving the surface, overcoming dampness, relieving pain, relieving spasms, and stopping itching. It is used to treat wind-cold colds, headache and body aches, facial paralysis, rheumatic pain, limb spasms, abdominal pain and diarrhea, intestinal wind with bleeding, wind sores, scabies, itchy skin, and tetanus.

  Fuling: It has the effects of diuresis, eliminating dampness, strengthening the spleen, and calming the mind. It is used for edema with reduced urination, phlegm-dampness vertigo, spleen deficiency with reduced appetite, loose stools and diarrhea, restlessness, and palpitations.

  Baizhi: Its main pharmacological effects include antipyresis, analgesia, anti-inflammatory, coronary dilation, antispasmodic, enhancement of uterine contractions, promotion of fat decomposition, antibacterial, antifungal, and antituberculosis effects.

  Huangqin: It has the effects of clearing heat and drying dampness, purging fire and detoxification, stopping bleeding, and stabilizing the fetus. It is used for damp-heat, summer heat with chest stuffiness and nausea, damp heat with fullness and pain, diarrhea, jaundice, lung heat cough, high fever with restlessness and thirst, blood heat vomiting and nosebleeds, abscesses, and sores and toxins, and restless fetal movement.

  Mahuang: It induces sweating, dispels cold, promotes lung function, and relieves asthma. It is used for wind-cold colds, chest tightness, cough, wind-dampness edema; bronchial asthma. Honey-fried Mahuang moistens the lungs and stops coughing. It is commonly used for resolved external symptoms, asthma, and cough.

  Zhike: It has the functions of regulating qi, relieving stagnation, eliminating stagnation, and relieving distention. It is used for chest and hypochondriac pain, distention and fullness, indigestion, phlegm and dampness stagnation, organ prolapse.

  Niuxi: It is used to invigorate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, reduce swelling, and treat amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, masses, postpartum blood stasis abdominal pain, dysuria, hematuria, hypertension, throat obstruction, abscesses, and swelling. Wine-processed Niuxi tonifies the liver and kidneys, strengthens the tendons and bones, treats cold-dampness arthralgia, lumbosacral pain, weak lower limbs and knees.
