Bitter Buckwheat Tea

As the weather gradually becomes hotter, a variety of summer drinks are becoming more popular. Today, we recommend a healthy drink suitable for summer - Bitter Buckwheat Tea.

Bitter buckwheat is a rare dual-use plant in nature, mostly grown in high-altitude cold mountainous areas. There are two types: yellow bitter buckwheat and black bitter buckwheat. The black bitter buckwheat is known as "black pearl" and has high nutritional value and medicinal efficacy. "Compendium of Materia Medica" records: bitter buckwheat has a bitter taste, a cool nature, and can nourish the intestines and stomach, invigorate the qi, replenish energy, improve eyesight and hearing, and has the effects of reducing qi, relaxing the intestines, and improving digestion. Shen Qizhi, Deputy Chief Traditional Chinese Medicine Physician at Wushan County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chongqing, introduced that bitter buckwheat tea has the functions of clearing heat and detoxification, promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, detoxifying and healing the skin, and nourishing the qi and relaxing the intestines.

Bitter buckwheat tea is suitable for most people, but those with excessive cold body constitution or weakness and those with a history of allergic reactions to black bitter buckwheat should use it with caution. Bitter buckwheat tea can be consumed as food or drink. Here are a few recommended methods of consumption.

Take 10 grams of bitter buckwheat tea, add two slices of lemon, and brew with boiling water. Let it sit for 5 minutes before drinking. It is better to boil it before drinking. Drink it on an empty stomach the next morning (except during menstruation) for the best weight loss effect. In summer, you can add lemon, jasmine or chrysanthemum to bitter buckwheat tea to make a refreshing iced drink with excellent cooling and detoxifying effects.

Bitter buckwheat tea can be consumed directly and is crispy and delicious. Alternatively, pour boiling water over the bitter buckwheat tea in a cup, let it sit for a while, and drink it when it's not too hot. After drinking, you can eat the bitter buckwheat.

You can also add your favorite foods to bitter buckwheat tea, such as oatmeal and raisins, for breakfast. You can also add milk to make milk tea.

If you add some Chinese herbs to bitter buckwheat tea, it will have more health benefits. For example, adding astragalus is suitable for those with qi deficiency; adding goji berries is beneficial for those with kidney deficiency; adding safflower helps promote blood circulation; adding lingzhi can effectively improve immunity; adding chrysanthemum, etc.
