【Method of Soaking Medicinal Wine】
Medicinal wine has the function of promoting blood circulation, relieving pain, and dispelling wind and dampness. So, how do we soak and drink medicinal wine?
First, crush or cut the purchased herbs, then soak them in cold water to wash away dirt and prevent excessive absorption of alcohol by the herbs. Then, take out the herbs and put them in a glass bottle or jar, pour in white wine, ensuring that all the herbs are submerged. Finally, seal the bottle tightly and shake it several times a day to fully extract the active ingredients of the herbs. After soaking for half a month, the medicinal wine can be consumed. For precious herbs, the wine can be soaked multiple times after drinking it.
Soaking Chinese herbs in wine can extract many active ingredients that cannot be extracted by water alone, so the nourishing and therapeutic effects of medicinal wine are better than traditional herbal decoctions. However, medicinal wine is different from regular alcohol. Except for tonic medicinal wine, it should be taken according to the prescribed course and dosage and stopped after recovery.
The dosage of medicinal wine can be adjusted according to the individual's tolerance to alcohol, with a recommended dose of 30-50 milliliters per serving. For those who are not accustomed to alcohol, the medicinal wine can be diluted in grape wine, yellow wine, or cold water and consumed accordingly. Although medicinal wine contains alcohol, the concentration is low and the dosage is small, so it generally does not have side effects. Drinking a small amount of medicinal wine can increase the secretion of saliva and gastric juice, which helps digestion and absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
People with liver and kidney diseases, hypertension, allergies, or skin diseases should avoid drinking medicinal wine. If it is necessary to drink, it is recommended to dilute it with more water and boil it in a pot to remove most of the alcohol before consumption.
