One-Finger Zen: A Technique for Promoting Meridian Circulation and Relieving Pain

February 9, 2024

Using the radial side of the thumb as the focal point, performing the finger Zen push technique is called the one-finger Zen biased peak push technique. The practitioner applies pressure to the treatment area with the radial side of the thumb (equivalent to the Shaoshang acupoint), while the other four fingers naturally separate and straighten, with the wrist joint relaxed, slightly bent or naturally extended, sinking the abdomen, hanging the elbow, and using the four fingers and wrist joint to actively swing. This movement drives the small range of motion flexion and extension of the thumb interphalangeal joint. The frequency is 120-160 times per minute. It has the effects of promoting meridian circulation, calming the mind and brightening the eyes, expanding the chest and regulating qi, strengthening the spleen and stomach. It is mainly used to treat headaches, dizziness, insomnia, facial paralysis, eye disorders, colds, and neck and shoulder pain.
