Shaking Traction Method: A Promising Approach for Treating Lumbar Pain and Injuries

December 1, 2023

Pulling and shaking the patient's limbs is called shaking traction method. The patient lies prone and grabs the head of the bed with both hands, or an assistant helps to grab the patient's armpits to fix the patient's body. The operator holds the upper end of the patient's ankles with both hands, exerts force to pull and stretch, then relaxes and swings left and right. When the patient's lumbar muscles are relaxed, the operator suddenly shakes the waist 3-4 times, and then exerts force to pull and stretch. This method has the effect of relaxing muscles and promoting blood circulation, loosening adhesions, and widening the gap between lumbar vertebrae joints. It is used to treat acute lumbar sprain, lumbar disc herniation, and lumbar and leg pain.
