January 18, 2024

Honey pomelo tea is not only delicious but also a food with whitening, freckle removal, and skin rejuvenation effects. Chinese medicine believes that pomelo has a sweet and sour taste, cold nature, and has the effects of promoting digestion, relieving gas, and improving complexion. Honey has a lubricating effect on the intestines. Therefore, honey pomelo tea is particularly helpful for weight loss. It can also clear heat and whiten the skin when consumed regularly.

Ingredients:

- 1 pomelo
- 20g edible salt
- Water, as needed
- 500g honey
- 200g powdered rock sugar

Instructions:

1. Wash the pomelo with clean water and wipe off the water on the surface with a kitchen towel. Sprinkle edible salt on the pomelo and rub it repeatedly.
2. After rubbing a few times, wash off the salt on the surface of the pomelo and dry it with a kitchen towel. Cut off the top of the pomelo with a knife to expose the white pith.
3. Use a knife to evenly carve 8-10 marks on the surface of the pomelo, then peel off the outer skin along the marks.
4. Peel off the white pith under the yellow skin, as the pith tastes bitter. Separate the pomelo segments, discarding the seeds.
5. Put a clean plastic bag on your hand, squeeze the pomelo segments to extract the juice, and collect it in a container.
6. After squeezing out the juice, cut the leftover pomelo into small pieces. If you don't like the slightly bitter taste, you can discard this part.
7. Place the pomelo peel on a cutting board and remove the white inner part with a knife, leaving only the yellow peel.
8. Cut the pomelo peel into thin strips, about 1-2mm wide.
9. Put the cut pomelo peel in a cooking pot, pour in enough water to cover the surface of the peel, and bring it to a boil over high heat.
10. After boiling, reduce the heat to low and continue cooking, flipping the pomelo peel with chopsticks.
11. Add the crushed pomelo pieces from step 6 to the pot and continue cooking over low heat.
12. After about half an hour of cooking, continually check the remaining water in the pot. At this point, there will be many large bubbles on the surface, and the mixture will become thicker.
13. When there is almost no water left in the pot, pour in the pomelo juice squeezed in step 5. If the juice is too thick, you can add a small spoonful of water and continue simmering over low heat.
14. Add the powdered rock sugar to the pot and mix well.
15. When there is almost no visible water in the pot, turn off the heat. When the temperature drops to around 50 degrees Celsius, pour in the honey.
16. Mix the cooked pomelo peel and honey well, and transfer it to a container.

Best Time to Drink:

The best time is one hour after a meal. If you drink tea immediately after a meal, it can lead to blood deficiency over time. Waiting for one hour after a meal ensures that the iron in the food has been mostly absorbed, so drinking tea at this time will not affect iron absorption.

Benefits of Honey Pomelo Tea:

1. Honey:
It has a lubricating effect on the intestines. Drinking honey pomelo tea is especially beneficial for relieving constipation and acne. Consistently drinking honey pomelo tea for 3 months can help improve these symptoms. Using food to achieve whitening is more effective than using cosmetics. Cosmetics can only temporarily lighten the skin, with limited effectiveness. This healthy tea can break down melanin from its roots, resulting in a more long-lasting whitening effect.
2. Pomelo:
In "Compendium of Materia Medica," it is recorded that pomelo can eliminate stomach discomfort, relieve alcohol poisoning, improve the speech of intoxicated people, and improve appetite. Making tea from pomelo has been a tradition in ancient China and other countries like Japan and Korea. In modern times, pomelo tea is also known for its beauty effects. Pomelo contains abundant vitamin C, three times more than lemons! Pomelo is rich in nutrients, with calcium and vitamins exceeding those of other fruits, such as apples, pears, and bananas. Pomelo also contains natural citric acid and various inorganic salts, which not only benefit the liver, stomach, and lungs but also have the effects of clearing heat, relieving cough, and transforming phlegm. The addition of natural honey further enhances the body's need for trace elements. It has the benefits of beauty, moisturizing the throat, preventing colds, and aiding digestion.
