Discovering the Miraculous Effects of Vinegar on Burning Body Fat

November 28, 2023

For a long time, housewives have passed on a secret recipe: consuming apple cider vinegar can make the excess fat around the waist disappear. Supermodels are well aware of this, as they drink a large sip of apple cider vinegar before each meal, believing that it helps maintain their graceful figure. Now, researchers in Japan have discovered some evidence suggesting that vinegar can have a miraculous effect on burning body fat.

Before rushing downstairs to buy a bottle of Zhenjiang vinegar, it is necessary to remind you that the current research findings are still limited to the laboratory, and it may not necessarily work for humans. However, it is worth mentioning that after enjoying a high-fat meal, the mice that consumed vinegar while eating had less weight gain compared to their counterparts who drank plain water. The difference can be as much as 10%. Scholars believe that the acid substance in vinegar - acetic acid - activates certain genes in the mice's bodies, which in turn produce a lot of enzymes responsible for burning fat. These active enzymes help inhibit fat accumulation.

The vinegar-drinking mice also had two other benefits. Their cholesterol levels and blood pressure were lower compared to their unfortunate companions who drank only water. Kondo from the Handa Central Research Institute in Japan conducted further human experiments, which also yielded promising results. The data showed that the subjects who consumed 15 milliliters of vinegar every day became slimmer, especially in the chest and upper abdomen.

You may find it hard to believe that vinegar can reduce appetite. The research also revealed that vinegar can slow down gastric emptying, thus reducing appetite. For those who are afraid of acidity, fortunately, just drinking four tablespoons of vinegar can achieve the effect of slowing down gastric emptying, which is equivalent to the level of a normal French salad dressing. Lemon juice can also achieve similar effects, as the citric acid in it has similar properties to acetic acid. Lactic acid and propionic acid naturally produced during the fermentation process of sourdough bread can also give a longer sense of satiety to the eater. Compared to other bread, sourdough bread can slow down digestion.

One last tip: drinking fruit vinegar, lemon juice, or lime juice is harmless to health and can help with weight loss. However, remember not to pour vinegar all over your French fries and expect your beer belly to magically disappear.
