How to recover quickly from muscle strains How to treat muscle injuries

April 28, 2023
Muscle strains are caused by excessive stretching of the muscles during physical activity and usually result in redness, swelling and pain. This common trauma can actually be treated at home by yourself, and the following will introduce you to the treatment of muscle strains

Relax the muscle

When a muscle strain occurs, the activity that caused the strain should be stopped immediately. A muscle strain is actually a break in the muscle fibers, so if you continue to exercise after a muscle strain occurs, then the fracture will get larger and larger, eventually causing a serious injury. 1. Pain is a sign of rest. If you run or do other sports in the process of muscle strain, then the severe pain may force you to stop to catch your breath, in fact, the wisest thing to do is to rest completely, do not continue to exercise. 2. After a muscle strain, rest for a few days before you can do the same exercise again.

Ice the muscles

Ice packs help eliminate swelling and reduce pain. Find a larger food bag, fill it with ice, and then wrap it with a thin towel, which can prevent the skin from direct contact with the ice and injury. Use the ice pack on the sore area for 20 minutes, several times a day, the swelling will slowly subside. 1. Frozen bags of peas or other vegetables can also be used as ice packs to use. 2. Do not apply hot compresses, which are ineffective in eliminating redness and swelling caused by strains.

Wrap the strained area

Wrapping the strained area can eliminate redness and swelling and prevent further damage. Find a bandage and wrap the strained muscle in your arm or thigh. 1. But the bandage should not be too tight, otherwise it will block the blood circulation. 2. If you don't have a cloth bandage at home, you can also cut an old pillowcase into strips of cloth and use it as a bandage.

Elevate the injured area

Elevating the injured area helps to eliminate swelling and make it fully relaxed. 1. If the leg muscle is strained, then use a chair or bench to stack the leg while sitting. 2. If it is an arm muscle strain, then you can use a bandage to hoist the arm up.

Take painkillers

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as aspirin and ibuprofen have a pain-relieving effect so that you can move around more freely. Of course it is important to take the medication in the prescribed dose, and in addition, aspirin should not be taken by children.
