The correct way to meditate

Meditation is a common way to maintain health in China in ancient times, and people in ancient times exercised their body and mind by sitting in meditation. Since many people nowadays do not know very well how to meditate, they do not meditate. So how to meditate and what is the correct way to meditate?

The requirements of meditation environment

First of all, you should choose an environment that is conducive to meditation. If you meditate in a room, you should choose an environment with moderate light and darkness, air circulation and moderate temperature; if you meditate outdoors, you should choose a quiet place to avoid being disturbed by accidents.

Meditation breathing requirements

Keep breathing evenly and maintain a certain depth, breathing fine but not coarse, in order not to hear the sound of breathing is better; frequency uniform but not gasping, like a trickle of water, not slow down a rush; each breath should be deep, inhale the air in the lungs, with the idea that it should enter the lower abdomen of the sea of Qi.

Sitting posture - sitting with legs crossed

As shown in the picture below, after the left foot is placed, the right foot is put up, so that the center of gravity of the double plate sitting method is stable, which can quickly make the body and mind quiet, more conducive to physical relaxation and long time meditation. Beginners may not be able to sit with both legs crossed at the beginning, but they can try sitting with one foot on the other leg at the beginning.

Hand gestures - hand stance

Fold your hands under your navel, place the palm of your right hand on the palm of your left hand, gently touch your thumbs, and then naturally relax your hands on your legs.

Spine - straight but not stiff

When meditating, when paying attention to the body straight, do not let the body bend at will, only when the body is straight, the meridians and blood will be smooth.

Shoulders - slightly open

It is not necessary to deliberately lift the chest, so that the upper body is in a natural state of relaxation.

Lower jaw - slightly tucked in

Meditation is to keep the head in the center line of the body, not tilted and not skewed. The spine should be straight, but the neck can be slightly natural to want to bend forward, so that the jaw will be naturally slightly closed, both to help the cervical spine straight, but also to reduce the carotid artery compression, slow down the physiological activity, to facilitate the person to calm down.

Eyes - half closed office closed

Do not close your eyes completely when meditating, keep them half open and half closed, so that you can see the distance of about 3 meters in front of you is better.

Tongue - lightly against the upper jaw

After sitting in a meditation posture, it is time to meditate. At this time, pay attention to the front part of the tongue lightly against the palate, instead of pressing the tip of the tongue against the palate. The lips are gently closed and the facial muscles are naturally relaxed, leaving a slight gap between the upper and lower teeth, without biting each other.
