What's wrong with tears while meditating?

April 18, 2023
There are many people who have tears in their eyes when they meditate, and they are baffled by this. Let's take a look at what causes meditation tears.

What is the reason for tears during meditation?

When meditating, there are several possible reasons for tears in the eyes.

Self-protection of the eyes

Meditation, in a relaxed state of body and mind, smooths the flow of qi and blood, and certain uncomfortable parts of the body become more visible. Tears from the eyes may be a self-protective regulation of the eyes, and the tears moisten the eyes.

The body's detoxification manifests

Meditation can regulate the body and mind and promote blood circulation, while involuntary tears during meditation could be the discharge of body toxins. After all, the formation of tears involves other glands besides the tear ducts. This is similar to the detoxifying effect of sweating after exercise.

Meditation is more likely to remember sad things

When meditating, the body is in a relaxed state, unaffected by the external environment. Instead of the brain not functioning at this time, it tends to recall past events, and if it remembers something sad it tends to shed tears.

The eyes are focused for too long

Some people do not close their eyes when meditating, but like to open their eyes to look into the distance, or unconsciously look at a point in front of them. When meditating for a long time, the eyes tend to be sore and tearful.

Warm Tips

Note that if the number of tears during meditation is too frequent, it is advisable to go to the hospital for a checkup. And want to meditate to regulate the body and mind, exercise, meditation time should not be too long, preferably not more than 30 minutes is appropriate.
