Compensating for Low Blood Pressure: Ginger and Other Remedies

Hypotension refers to both systolic and diastolic blood pressure being lower than normal levels, usually caused by acute blood loss or chronic illness. So how can low blood pressure be compensated for?

Ginger

Peel and wash the ginger, and eat it raw. Eating ginger regularly is beneficial for treating low blood pressure. Chewing 1g of ginger can increase the average systolic blood pressure by 1.5kPa and diastolic blood pressure by 1.9kPa. In addition, you can add ginger to vegetable soups, tofu soups, meat soups, and chicken soups, or use ginger to make ginger tea. These methods can also be beneficial for treating low blood pressure.

Sanqi Invigorating Soup

Ingredients: 15g astragalus, 15g Codonopsis pilosula, 9g Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 100g lean meat.

Instructions: Wash the lean meat and cut it into pieces. Put the three herbs in a gauze bag and place it in a clay pot. Add water and simmer over low heat until the meat is tender. Remove the herb bag, add seasoning, and drink the soup and eat the meat.

Benefits: It can invigorate the middle and tonify qi, suitable for people with low blood pressure who need nourishing.

Huaiqi Dog Meat

Ingredients: Dog meat, Chinese yam, wolfberry, appropriate amount.

Instructions: Wash the dog meat and cut it into small pieces. Blanch it in boiling water, then stir-fry it with scallions and ginger in a wok. After cooking thoroughly, add cooking wine. Pour it into a clay pot and add Chinese yam, wolfberry, and salt. Simmer over low heat until cooked, then season.

Benefits: It can nourish the liver and kidneys, invigorate the middle and tonify qi, and nourish essence and boost yang. It is suitable for the elderly and weak people with low blood pressure.

Jujube and Astragalus Congee

Use 10 jujubes, 15g astragalus, and 50g glutinous rice. First, simmer the astragalus in water and remove the residue. Cook the jujubes, astragalus, and glutinous rice together to make congee. Eat it once every night to improve the symptoms of low blood pressure.

Ginseng Stewed Lamb

Ingredients: 50g ginseng, 30g wolfberry, 15g Cistanche deserticola, 250g lamb.

Instructions: Grind the first three ingredients into fine powder, soak them in 1500ml of water for two days, remove the residue, and take 1000ml of the juice. Add lamb and white part of scallions, stew until the lamb is tender. Season to taste and serve.

Benefits: It can treat dizziness, fatigue, and weakness caused by low blood pressure and spleen-kidney yang deficiency.

Guiyuan Xian Wine

Ingredients: 60g Angelica sinensis, 250g longan meat, 1000g white wine.

Instructions: Soak Angelica sinensis and longan meat in white wine for 20-30 days. Drink 20-30ml each time, twice a day.

Benefits: It can nourish qi and blood, invigorate the spleen and heart, suitable for people with low blood pressure and deficiency of heart and spleen qi and blood.

Tremella, Ginseng, and Jujube Congee

Ingredients: 5g Tremella, 5g Korean ginseng, 20g wolfberry, 10 jujubes.

Instructions: Wash the Tremella and soak it in water for about 30 minutes. Rinse the jujubes with clean water. Put the Tremella, jujubes, wolfberry, and Korean ginseng in a clay pot, add 100ml of chicken soup and an appropriate amount of water, simmer over low heat. Eat it twice a day, morning and evening, for several days.

Benefits: It can nourish qi and blood, nourish the heart and spleen, and calm the mind. It is suitable for people with low blood pressure, spleen and heart deficiency, physical weakness, and forgetfulness.
