Harmful Effects of Eating Persimmons with Yogurt

Persimmons contain a high amount of tannic acid, as well as pectin and fiber. When eaten with yogurt, the tannic acid reacts with the stomach acid and lactic acid in yogurt, forming solid precipitates. Additionally, the combination of pectin, fiber, and protein in yogurt forms indigestible complexes. Consuming a small amount may only cause bloating and constipation, but excessive consumption can lead to gastric stones and intestinal stones that are difficult to eliminate, requiring surgical treatment if necessary.

Disruption of Digestion

Yogurt contains a significant amount of lactic acid and protein. These substances require a sufficient amount of stomach acid for digestion, especially protein, which needs a certain concentration of stomach acid to be properly digested. Persimmons contain a high amount of alkaline substances, especially unripe persimmons, which neutralize a significant portion of stomach acid, affecting the digestion of yogurt in the stomach.
