Yogurt is slightly higher in calories than milk because of the 7% sugar added to yogurt. The calorie of sweetened yogurt is 240 kcal per 100 grams, and unsweetened yogurt is 190 kcal per 100 grams.

Nutrition

The nutritional differences between yogurt and cow's milk are not very big, both are the best source of calcium and both provide the body with rich protein, vitamins A, D and B vitamins.

Health

In terms of health effects, yogurt is a little better than milk in terms of immune regulation, prevention of intestinal infections and improvement of gastrointestinal function.

Weight loss

Both yogurt and milk can effectively enhance the feeling of satiety, and a glass of milk or yogurt when you are slightly hungry can effectively relieve your appetite and help reduce the amount of food you eat at the next meal.

Yogurt drink ≠ yogurt

Yogurt drinks are processed beverages made from powder, sugar, lactic or citric acid, malic acid, spices and preservatives. The most important lactic acid bacteria in yogurt can break down substances that are beneficial to the human body, promote nutrient absorption and regulate gastrointestinal function, but there is only lactic acid in general yogurt drinks, and there is no way to play the function of lactic acid bacteria. There is also a big difference in protein content between the two, with yogurt at about 2.7% to 2.9% and yogurt drinks at less than 1%.

Yogurt should be consumed in moderation

The lactic acid bacteria in yogurt produce antibiotics, which can inhibit many bacteria, but also destroy the beneficial bacteria inside the human body. Long-term consumption of large amounts of yogurt can affect the perfection of the human body's own system and may interfere with normal digestive function, which is even more detrimental to people suffering from gastroenteritis.

Precautions for drinking yogurt

It is best to drink yogurt 2 hours after meals, when the alkaline gastric juice rises, suitable for the growth of lactic acid bacteria; pay attention not to drink yogurt on an empty stomach, when the gastric juice is highly acidic, lactic acid bacteria are easily destroyed; yogurt should be kept refrigerated, and not stored for too long, preferably within 7 days to drink; yogurt can not be heated. It can be placed for one or two hours after it is taken out from the refrigerator; remember to rinse your mouth after drinking yogurt to avoid damage to your teeth.

Milk is not suitable for everyone

Although milk is very nutritious, but not everyone is suitable to drink, lactose is the sugar contained in most milk, must be hydrolyzed by lactase to be absorbed. People who lack the enzyme lactase cannot fully digest and absorb the lactose in milk, resulting in lactose retention in the intestinal cavity and producing lesions. The symptoms are not obvious in mild cases, while those with more severe symptoms may experience abdominal distention, bowel sounds, exhaustion, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Tips for drinking milk

It is not advisable to drink milk in the morning on an empty stomach: when the human body is fasting, the nutrients in milk are not absorbed in time to rush into the large intestine, causing a burden to the stomach and intestines. In addition, drinking milk in large gulps will reduce the chance of mixing with saliva in the mouth, which is not conducive to digestion and absorption. It is better to have some cookies and pastries while drinking milk. Drinking milk at night is more beneficial: there is a special rule of calcium metabolism in the human body: in the evening, especially at midnight, the plasma calcium level will suddenly decrease, forcing the body to transfer some of the calcium in the bones to replenish it through regulatory mechanisms. Thus, although the calcium in the blood is temporarily maintained, the calcium in the bones will be relatively reduced. Milk is rich in calcium, and drinking a glass of milk before going to bed can compensate for the body's need for calcium at night. It is not advisable to boil milk with sugar: milk is rich in amino acids, and under high temperature conditions lysine reacts with sugar to produce a newborn compound called fructose-based amino acids. This substance not only can not be digested and absorbed by the body, but will affect human health, so it is best to drink fresh milk, if the milk is too cold can be slightly heated after drinking.
