April 11, 2024

Breastfeeding is a special period. During this time, although the baby is separated from the mother's body, the main source of nutrition for the baby is breast milk. Therefore, mothers need to pay extra attention, especially in terms of diet. Let's take a look together with the author!

Foods that should not be eaten during breastfeeding

    1. Foods with excessive MSG

Eating excessive MSG can have a serious impact on the development of infants. Especially for infants under 12 weeks, it can cause intellectual retardation and delayed growth and other adverse consequences.

    2. Foods with excessive salt

Do not eat pickled fish or meat and other similar foods. According to usual habits, breastfeeding mothers do not need to avoid salt completely, but should not eat too salty, and maintain a moderate amount.

    3. Fried foods

Fried foods are difficult to digest, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid them.

    4. Chocolate

Breastfeeding mothers can eat chocolate, but be sure to pay attention to the amount, which depends on the physical condition of each woman and the age of the baby.

    5. Cooling fruits

Eating too many cooling fruits can cause indigestion. If breastfeeding mothers consume excessive cooling fruits such as watermelon, it can also cause diarrhea in babies.

Hot fruits: hawthorn, cherry, pomegranate, lychee, etc. belong to warm-hot fruits. However, excessive consumption of warm-hot fruits in summer can easily cause internal heat. Breastfeeding mothers should not eat too much.

    6. Foods that affect milk production

Malt, malted milk, ginseng, dandelion, Sichuan pepper, leek, pork liver, sesame, bitter melon, pigeon, oatmeal, Chinese toon, soybean dregs, etc.

    7. Tea

Because the substances in tea can enter the baby's body with breast milk, it can cause infantile intestinal spasms, inexplicable crying, poor sleep, and other complications.

    Foods that increase milk production

    1. Shrimp and pork dumpling soup

Ingredients: Chop shrimp, ground meat, carrots, ginger, and green onions together, and mix with seasoning.

    Method: Wrap the prepared filling in dumpling wrappers and boil in boiling water until cooked;

Boil the broth in a pot, add the cooked dumplings, and add seasoning, coriander, and green onion.

Efficacy: Shrimp contains a lot of protein, fat, and vitamins. It is a salty and warm food. It can promote lactation and increase milk production while nourishing qi and blood and improving the quality of breast milk.

    2. Fresh carp congee

Method: After processing the fish, wash it and cut it into small pieces. Cook it with millet over low heat until the fish and rice are cooked through.

Note: Do not add salt to the congee, as breastfeeding women should eat light food.

Efficacy: If the congee is made with carp, you can add a little soy sauce as a seasoning. Eating the meat and drinking the soup has a good lactation effect. Carp not only contains rich easily digestible and absorbable protein, but also has the effect of eliminating cold and promoting milk production.
