Cupping Therapy for Weight Loss: Acupoints and Techniques for Effective Results

Cupping therapy for weight loss is a method that stimulates acupoints, adjusts meridians, strengthens the functions of the spleen and kidneys, and promotes the expulsion of pathogenic factors to achieve the goal of weight loss. It is currently considered a relatively safe and effective method. This article mainly introduces the location diagram of cupping therapy for weight loss.

Back Cupping Therapy Acupoints for Weight Loss:

The following acupoints are cupped using flash-fire method and left on for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a week.

1. Spleen Shu Point:

Location: 1.5 inches beside the lower part of the 11th thoracic vertebrae spinous process (between the latissimus dorsi, the longest muscle, and the iliocostalis muscle); Function: Dispels heat from the spleen and stomach, treats abdominal distension.

2. Triple Burner Shu Point:

Location: 2 finger-widths beside the lower part of the 1st lumbar vertebrae spinous process; Function: Regulates the overall body's water and dampness to the bladder meridian and helps eliminate them from the body.

3. Diaphragm Shu Point:

Location: 1.5 inches beside the 7th thoracic vertebrae spinous process along the midline; Function: Slims the back, promotes smooth flow of qi, opens the chest and diaphragm.

4. Liver Shu Point:

Location: 1.5 inches beside the lower part of the 9th thoracic vertebrae spinous process; Function: Soothes the liver, promotes bile secretion, regulates qi, and improves eyesight.

5. Stomach Shu Point:

Location: 1.5 inches beside the lower part of the 12th thoracic vertebrae spinous process; Function: Treats stomach pain, abdominal distension.

Abdominal Cupping Therapy Acupoints for Weight Loss:

The following acupoints are cupped using flash-fire method and left on for 20 minutes, 2-3 times a week.

1. Zhong Wan Point:

Location: 4 inches above the belly button; Function: Gathers and conducts fluids and fats.

2. Tian Shu Point:

Location: 2 inches beside the belly button; Function: Regulates the intestines, relieves stagnation of qi, aids digestion.

3. Qi Hai Point:

Location: 1.5 inches below the belly button; Function: Treats edema, abdominal distension, constipation.

4. Guan Yuan Point:

Location: 1.5 inches above the belly button; Function: Gathers qi and blood of the small intestine meridian, conducts fluids of the conception vessel.

5. Jian Li Point:

Location: 3 inches above the belly button; Function: Treats abdominal distension, edema, eliminates abdominal water weight.

6. Shui Fen Point:

Location: 1 inch above the belly button; Function: Strengthens the spleen and stomach, promotes qi circulation, treats abdominal distension and bloating.

7. Shi Men Point:

Location: 2 inches below the belly button; Function: Reduces edema, relieves abdominal bloating.

Thigh Cupping Therapy Acupoints for Weight Loss:

The following acupoints are cupped in suitable body positions using flash-fire method and left on for 15 minutes, 2-3 times a week.

1. Xue Hai Point:

Location: 2 inches above the inner end of the patella, in the depression between the inner thigh muscles; Function: Slims the legs, improves blood circulation, removes dampness.

2. Cheng Fu Point:

Location: Below the center of the buttocks, along the transverse line; Function: Slims the thighs, promotes fat burning in the legs.

3. Feng Shi Point:

Location: On the outer side of the thigh; Function: Removes dampness, eliminates edema and obesity in the lower limbs.

4. Yin Men Point:

Location: 6 inches below the Cheng Fu Point, on the line connecting Cheng Fu Point and Wei Zhong Point; Function: Slims the thighs, improves thigh edema.

5. Fu Tu Point:

Location: On the thigh, where the rectus femoris muscle bulges; Function: Treats numbness in the knees and legs, helps with weight loss and slimming of the legs.

6. Liang Qiu Point:

Location: The hollow area when the knee is flexed and the muscles contract; Function: Reduces lower limb edema and obesity.

Calf Cupping Therapy Acupoints for Weight Loss:

1. Zu San Li Point:

Location: 3 inches below the calf muscle, on the line connecting the calf muscle and the Jiexi Point; Function: Stimulates circulation, aids digestion.
