Does liposuction hurt? Does the liposuction process hurt?

September 11, 2023
People who want to lose weight by liposuction are always worried that the surgical weight loss process will be painful, in fact, general surgery will use anesthesia, so does this mean that there will be no pain from liposuction?

What is liposuction for weight loss

Liposuction is a plastic surgery method that uses a negative pressure vacuum suction device connected to a suction tube with a metal end with a suction hole to enter the subcutaneous area through a small air button in the skin and suck out the fatty tissue that has accumulated under the skin, thus changing obesity. In the beginning, liposuction is used for shaping rather than weight loss, so the amount of fat extracted should not be too much, otherwise it will have a greater impact on health. Possible liposuction areas include: face, double chin, neck, shoulder and back, limbs, hands and feet, upper and lower abdomen, side waist, upper hip and buttock reduction and buttock lift.

Does the liposuction process hurt?

The liposuction process with anesthesia is not painful, and there will be soreness and pain after 24 hours. Liposuction surgery is operated under anesthesia, and the anesthetic will still play a role in numbing the pain within 24 hours of surgery. However, after 24 hours, some soreness and pain will occur as the anesthesia wears off. The pain is not the pain of needles and knives, but it is tolerable.

Why does pain occur after liposuction

Negative pressure liposuction sucks out the fat between the skin and the muscles with negative pressure, which can create trauma. There are a large number of nerve endings distributed in this level, and the surgery inevitably has to damage some nerves and cause pain. Because the recovery of the nerves is extremely slow, there will be pain that lasts for 3-5 days after the surgery. This pain is intermittent, but almost always tolerable. In addition, irritation from the antiseptic solution may cause redness, swelling, and heat at the surgical site.

How long does it take for the pain to disappear after liposuction

The pain disappears in about 7 days. The pain that is noticeable after the surgery will last for 3-5 days and increase with activity or force. Later on, the pain will decrease day by day and you will feel no more pain if you do not touch it, and basically no more pain by the 7th day. During this period, the doctor will prescribe some painkillers, so be sure to follow the doctor's instructions and do not take them indiscriminately for quick pain relief.

How to deal with pain after liposuction

One word "tolerate", if you can't tolerate the pain, take painkillers. If you want to be more beautiful through liposuction, pain is definitely experienced, if not too much pain, it is best not to take painkillers, you can try to divert attention to relieve the pain, such as listening to soft music, read a book. When the pain is severe, there is no way out, you need to take painkillers. In short, if you can tolerate it, you can only take painkillers if you can't.

Attention after liposuction

Liposuction is the direct extraction of excess fat from the skin, but only one part of the body is removed, and only a small part of the fat is removed, so there is still body fat. After liposuction, you still need to take care of your diet and exercise to prevent obesity from happening again.
