Achieving the "Seven Channels": Keys to Healthy Aging

December 18, 2023

Elderly health should achieve the "Seven Channels", namely Qi Channel, Heart Channel, Blood Vessel Channel, Gastrointestinal Channel, Bowel Channel, and Sweat Gland Channel, in order to become a healthy and long-lived senior.

Qi Channel: Wash your face and rinse your nose with cold water every morning, especially clear your nose, and then wipe your face with a warm wet towel. This alternating cold and hot can promote facial blood circulation, wake up the brain, and also reduce the risk of catching a cold.

Heart Channel: Maintain a cheerful and optimistic mood. Stay positive and resilient in the face of difficulties. Living in nature, people are inevitably influenced by various factors. Therefore, do not be arrogant when successful, and do not be upset when failing. Be cautious in words and actions, respect others more, and have fewer personal desires. This way, there will be fewer unpleasant things.

Blood Vessel Channel: Keep the blood vessels unobstructed. Elderly people should exercise for 30 to 60 minutes every day, walking and exercising without feeling too strenuous, and slightly sweating is enough. Keeping the blood vessels unobstructed is beneficial for metabolism and reduces the risk of diseases.

Gastrointestinal Channel: Arrange the diet structure reasonably and keep the gastrointestinal tract unobstructed. Do not overeat, and the quantity, temperature, and hardness of food should be tolerable for oneself. Excessive, cold, and hard food can easily damage the spleen and stomach, causing blockage in the gastrointestinal tract. Especially for elderly people with weak spleen and stomach, meals should be eaten on time and in moderate amounts, and chewed slowly and swallowed.

Bowel Channel: Keep the bowels unobstructed and develop good bowel habits. For elderly people with constipation, they should eat more foods rich in fiber to keep the bowel movements regular, preferably once a day. If the stool stays in the intestines for too long, toxic substances may be absorbed, which is harmful to health. As the saying goes, "The kidney governs the two excretions." Pay attention to nourishing the kidney energy in daily life, control sexual activities, which will benefit the smooth excretion of urine and feces.

Sweat Gland Channel: In China, there has been a long-standing belief in using sweating for health and treating diseases, such as drinking porridge to induce sweating, exercising to sweat, and soaking feet in hot water to induce sweating. Sweating can promote meridian circulation and blood vessel dilation. Sweating can also clean the pores, expel carcinogenic substances such as lead and strontium, as well as other toxic substances and waste materials from the body. Sweating also plays an important role in regulating body temperature and protecting the skin. Recently, it has been discovered scientifically that immunoglobulin A exists in every sweat gland, which can prevent bacteria and viruses from entering the body through the sweat glands. By sweating, a "big cleansing" can be achieved, and harmful substances will naturally be "expelled from the body".
