Autumn Exercise with "Three Precautions"
Exercising in autumn not only helps to regulate the lungs and improve the function of the respiratory organs, but also enhances the immune function of various tissues and organs and the body's ability to resist external cold stimuli. However, due to the large temperature difference between morning and evening in autumn, in order to achieve good fitness results, three precautions must be taken into account:
1. Prevent catching a cold. The temperature is low in the early morning of autumn, so clothing should be adjusted according to the outdoor temperature changes. Excessive clothing should be taken off only after the body is heated up during exercise. After exercising, avoid wearing damp clothes in the cold wind to prevent the body from catching a cold.
2. Prevent sports injuries. As the temperature drops, the muscles and ligaments of the human body will reflexively cause vasoconstriction, significantly reducing muscle flexibility and decreasing joint physiological activity and the nervous system's ability to regulate the movement of organs. Therefore, it is important to prepare adequately before each exercise.
3. Prevent excessive exercise. In autumn, the body's yin and yang energies are in the stage of convergence and nourishment, so exercise should also follow this principle. The exercise intensity should not be too high to prevent excessive sweating and depletion of yang energy. It is recommended to choose light and gentle activities with a moderate level of intensity.
Traditional Chinese Medicine: "Autumn Chill" Benefits Overexertion Prevention
Strengthening cold resistance exercise as the weather gets cooler can exercise the body's ability to resist, gradually adapt to the cold environment, and help prevent many diseases. The understanding of "autumn chill" should not be limited to simply adding clothes when it's not yet cold. It should also be broadly understood, such as emphasizing cold resistance exercise during physical activities to enhance the body's ability to adapt to cold weather. Regardless of the activity, do not exercise until you are sweating profusely. Stop when you feel slightly warm all over your body but have not started sweating to ensure the conservation of yin essence and prevent excessive depletion of yang energy. Cold showers should be maintained throughout the autumn without interruption.
