【Location】On the lateral abdomen, below the free end of the eleventh rib.
【Anatomy】Includes the internal and external oblique muscles and the transverse abdominal muscle; it has branches of the intercostal artery between the tenth and eleventh ribs; it is located below the edge of the liver on the right side and below the edge of the spleen on the left side.
【Indications】Abdominal distension, diarrhea, flank pain, and abdominal masses.
【Technique】Oblique insertion of 0.5-1 cun.
【Combination】Combined with Zúsānlǐ to treat urticaria and histamine allergy; combined with Tiānshū, Píyú, Zhōngwǎn, and Zúsānlǐ to treat abdominal distension, abdominal masses, flank pain, diarrhea, and emaciation caused by disharmony between the liver and spleen; combined with Shènyū, Gānyū, Shuǐdào, Jīngmén, Yīnlíngquán, Sānyīnjiāo, Yánggǔ, and Qìhǎi to treat ascites and nephritis caused by liver cirrhosis.
【Note】Zhangmén is the gathering point of the spleen meridian and one of the eight confluent points; it is also the meeting point of the liver meridian and the gallbladder meridian.
