Clinical Applications of Xishaocao

1. Hypertension

Xishaocao, Xiakucao, Sangjisheng 15g each, Juhua, Longdancao 9g each, decocted and taken orally.

2. Rheumatoid arthritis, back and leg pain

Xishaocao, Laoguancao 12g each, Jixueteng 15g, decocted and taken orally.

3. Malaria

Xishaocao can be used alone, 30-45g, decocted and taken orally.

4. Jaundice hepatitis, hemiplegia, scabies, etc.

Can be used in combination with other herbs.

5. Used for rheumatic pain, joint pain, numbness and weakness of limbs

This herb is pungent and dry, dispelling wind and dampness and stopping pain. It is especially suitable for those with heat-type rheumatism.

It can be used together with Choudoutong to make Xitong Wan as described in the "Collection of Health Experience".

It can be used alone to treat wind-cold-dampness arthralgia or wind-stroke paralysis. Steamed with wine and taken orally, it becomes Xicao Wan as described in the "Compilation of Effective Prescriptions for the Living".

6. Used for ulcer, abscess, eczema and itching

It can be taken orally or used topically to clear heat, detoxify, dispel wind and dampness, and stop itching.

Composition of the Nine-Ingredient Xishaocao Medicinal Wine

Ingredients: 72g of nine-ingredient Xishaocao, 110g of Fangji, 80g of Haifengteng, 80g of roasted Atractylodes, 80g of Qiannianjian, 80g of Chenpi;

80g of Weilingxian, 80g of Duzhong, 80g of Yousongjie, 80g of Danggui, 80g of Chuanniuxi, 80g of Shenjincren, 80g of Chuanduan;

80g of Shoudihuang, 80g of Sangjisheng, 80g of Qiancao, 80g of roasted Baizhu, 80g of Fangfeng, 80g of Gouji, 80g of Mugua;

80g of Qinjiao, 80g of Duhuo, 80g of Difengpi, 80g of Chuanxiong, 80g of Zhirumei;

80g of Honghua, 130g of Yuzhu, 60g of Rougui, 20g of Mahuang, 4500g of brown sugar, 25 liters of white wine.

Method: All the above ingredients are placed in a wine jar, soaked in wine and sealed tightly. Stir once a day for the first week, and then stir once a week for the following weeks. After soaking for a month, filter and collect the clear liquid. Press and filter the residue, and combine with the filtered liquid. Dissolve the brown sugar in a small amount of white wine by heating, and filter.

Take 20ml three times a day.
