To push an egg, take several fresh duck eggs and place them in a pot. Add cold water and boil until cooked. Remove from the pot and dry with a clean cloth. While still hot, roll and massage the egg all over the body until it cools down. This is called the egg pushing method. Chicken eggs can also be used for this technique. Some people even cook the eggs with Chinese herbs and use the medicated eggs for pushing.
[Procedure]
1. Boiling the eggs:
Take several fresh duck eggs and place them in a pot. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs. Boil vigorously for 5 minutes. Remove from the pot and use for egg pushing technique. Duck eggs have a sweet and salty taste, slightly cold property, and are non-toxic. They nourish yin and clear the lungs, and are used to treat symptoms such as hot sensation in the diaphragm, cough, sore throat, toothache, and diarrhea. Some people also add Chinese herbs to enhance the nourishing yin and clearing the lungs effects. Commonly used herbs include: Schizonepeta, Chrysanthemum, Honeysuckle, Forsythia, Saposhnikovia, Szechuan Lovage Rhizome, Dahurian Angelica, Gypsum, Ephedra, Asarum, Licorice, Mulberry Leaf, and White Peony. The eggs can be cooked in cold water, peeled, and then cooked again with the herbs to infuse the medicinal properties into the eggs.
2. Egg pushing:
After boiling, remove the eggs from the pot and dry them with a clean cloth. While still hot, roll and massage the eggs all over the body, or use a peeled boiled duck egg to rub on the affected area.
[Conditions treated]
1. Eyelid twitching:
Take 6g of Schizonepeta spike, 5g of Hang Chrysanthemum flower, 6g of Hang Lovage Root, 5g of Mingtianma (a type of mint), 5g of Atractylodes lancea, and 12g of Mulberry Leaf. Cook 2 peeled chicken eggs with the herbs for a long time to infuse the medicinal properties. Use the hot eggs to apply heat and massage the affected area, then replace with another hot egg when it cools down.
2. Typhoid fever with rash, measles in children not coming out:
Use peeled boiled duck eggs to rub on the gaps between the front and back chest ribs, around the seventh cervical vertebra, liver area, spleen area, around the navel, inner side of the upper extremities and elbow pits, inner side of the lower extremities and ankles, palms, and soles of the feet.
3. Febrile diseases in children, convulsions, and inability to sweat:
Treat the same as typhoid fever with rash.
In addition to the above conditions, egg pushing can also be used to treat symptoms such as hot sensation in the diaphragm, cough, sore throat, toothache, and diarrhea.
[Precautions]
1. The eggs for pushing should be hot, and a new egg should be used after the previous one cools down.
2. When pushing the egg, roll it instead of applying too much pressure to avoid damaging the skin.
3. Be careful to avoid scalding the skin.
4. The eggs that have been used for pushing should not be eaten.
