The acupoints are distributed on the radial side of the second metacarpal bone on the back of the palm. During the massage, the patient's hand muscles should be relaxed, with the palm facing up and the fingers in a gripping position. The index fingertip should be about 3 centimeters away from the thumb tip. The doctor should support the patient's hand with one hand and use the thumb of the other hand to press the acupoints, causing a sensation of soreness, swelling, heaviness, or numbness. The pressing should be done with a slight rubbing motion, at a rate of about 150 times per minute, for a duration of 3 minutes each time. Alternatively, a matchstick can be used to press and treat sensitive and painful points. Pressing different acupoint areas can treat symptoms related to the corresponding body parts or organs. Generally, the acupoint area on the same side of the affected area on the hand is selected.
Distribution of Acupoint Areas: Starting from the depression behind the metacarpal head, they extend to the base of the metacarpal bone. The acupoint areas are sequentially distributed for the head, neck, upper limbs, lungs, heart, liver, stomach, duodenum, kidneys, waist, lower abdomen, legs, and feet, totaling 12 areas.
