Reduction is one of the eight methods in orthopedic medicine. The practitioner uses one hand or both hands or the thumb and index finger, sometimes with the assistance of a rope, to lift the displaced bone or joint back into its original position. It has the function of correcting dislocations. It is mainly used to treat fractures and dislocations of the clavicle, ribs, nasal bones, and hip joints.
