1. Tremor Massage Therapy
Hold the affected limb at the distal end with both hands or one hand, and gently shake it up and down to create a sense of looseness in the joints and muscles. This is called tremor. The patient should be in a sitting or standing position with the shoulder and arm relaxed. The practitioner stands in front of the patient's outer side, slightly leaning forward, and holds the patient's wrist with both hands, slowly lifting it up and outwards to about 60°, and then shaking it up and down continuously to transfer the vibrating tremor to the shoulder. This technique helps to relax the meridians, lubricate the joints, and relieve adhesions. It is mainly used to treat shoulder and arm pain, limited mobility, and lower back and leg pain.
2. Vibration Massage Therapy
By using rhythmic strikes, vibration is induced in the targeted area, which is called vibration therapy. The practitioner places one hand flat on the treatment area, while the other hand forms a fist and rhythmically strikes the back of the hand that is resting on the treatment area, indirectly causing vibrations in the deep tissues and internal organs. This technique helps to expand the chest, regulate qi flow, and promote blood circulation. It is mainly used to treat symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, phlegm discomfort, and local swelling and pain in the chest and rib area.
3. Finger Vibration Massage Therapy
The middle finger is commonly used for finger vibration massage. During the treatment, the middle finger is extended and focused on acupoints or meridians, while the index finger applies pressure on the back of the middle finger, with the elbow slightly bent. By exerting static force with the forearm and hand, strong muscle contractions are generated, producing rapid and intense vibrations that are concentrated in the middle finger and transmitted to the body, resulting in a warm and relaxed sensation in the treatment area. The vibration frequency can reach about 600 times per minute.
4. Palm Vibrating Massage Therapy
Apply pressure on the treatment area with the palm, while maintaining the same posture and movements as the finger vibration technique. The palm vibrating technique can also be performed simultaneously with both hands, with the hands overlapping and attached to the treatment area, while the upper limbs exert static force to enhance the effectiveness of the vibration technique. This technique helps to relax the meridians, calm the mind, promote blood circulation and relieve pain, regulate the functions of the digestive system, and treat conditions such as insomnia, headaches, dizziness, gastric ptosis, epigastric pain, dysmenorrhea, and irregular menstruation.
