Vibrational Therapy: A Special Massage Technique for Abdominal Pain Relief

December 9, 2023

Vibration therapy is a special form of massage therapy used to treat abdominal pain. The patient is instructed to lie on their stomach with relaxed abdominal muscles, in either a knee-elbow position or a knee-palm position. The therapist places their hands on both sides of the patient's abdomen and begins by massaging the abdomen to help the patient adjust to the technique. Then, the therapist either clasps their hands together or keeps them parallel under the patient's abdomen and lifts it up, performing vertical or horizontal shaking or lifting motions. These motions are then suddenly stopped and repeated, gradually increasing in intensity. The focus of the technique is on the area around the navel or below the navel. Typically, the therapy is performed continuously for about 3 to 5 minutes, with a short rest period in between. It is recommended to repeat the therapy at least once. The therapy aims to promote the circulation of qi, relieve blockages, and disperse obstructions. It is primarily used to treat conditions such as intestinal torsion and obstruction caused by intestinal volvulus or a mass of roundworms.
