Exploring Various Techniques for Acupressure Massage

December 9, 2023

1. Pressing Technique: Apply pressure gradually and with varying intensity on the acupoints using fingers, palms, elbows, or other parts of the body. Stay in each position for a period of time (about 30 seconds), and then slowly relax the pressure from heavy to light.

2. Rubbing Technique: Gently place the palm or fingertips on the treatment area and perform a soothing and rhythmic circular rubbing motion using the wrist and forearm.

3. Friction Technique: Apply pressure with different parts of the hand, keeping it in close contact with the skin and moving back and forth in straight lines.

4. Kneading Technique: Apply pressure with different parts of the hand on a specific area, using circular or spiral kneading movements to stimulate the subcutaneous tissues to slide along with the movement of the fingers or palm.

5. Pinching Technique: Extend the thumb outward and keep the other four fingers close together, forming a pincer shape. Press the entire palm and fingers tightly against the skin, and perform circular rotation movements with kneading and spiral pushing.

6. Rubbing Technique: Hold the area being massaged with both hands, apply opposing forces, and quickly rub back and forth.

7. Pushing Technique: Apply pressure with the hand or palm on the area being massaged, and perform a unidirectional straight pushing motion.

8. Scraping Technique: Bend the thumb and use the fingernail (or a coin, spoon, etc.) to scrape the affected area in a uniform and constant direction.

9. Pinching Technique: Apply pressure vertically downward on a specific area or acupoint using the fingertip or edge of the fingernail, with continuous or intermittent force.
