Slimming Down Calves: Meridian Massage Techniques for Shapely Legs and Feet

November 28, 2023

Are you struggling with thick calves, making it difficult to wear short skirts and knee-high boots? Don't worry! It's actually quite simple to slim down your calves with meridian massage. Just follow these steps:

[Legs]

1. Bend your right leg and place the right knee on the ground, while keeping your left leg naturally bent. Place your right elbow on the inside of the thigh, where the pelvic joint and hip joint connect. Gently make a fist with your right hand and use your left hand to apply pressure, pushing it downwards to stimulate the area. If you sway your upper body back and forth while applying pressure, the effects will be more pronounced due to the weight of your upper body.

2. Move down to the shinbone and massage the inner side. Use your thumbs to massage the inner side of the shinbone. Continue massaging downwards until you reach the arch of the foot.

3. Turn your right leg around and massage the outer side of the thigh. Use the lower part of your right arm to knead and rub from the hip joint to the knee. The outer side of the thigh has well-developed muscles, so gently swaying your upper body back and forth while massaging will yield better results. If your arm can't reach the thigh, you can use your thumbs instead.

4. Lift your knee and massage the muscles at the back of the thigh. Use four fingers to massage the middle part of the entire muscle, from the hip joint to the knee.

5. Start from below the knee and alternate using four fingers to massage the front of the calf. Use your thumbs to press and push the calf muscles. Massaging the legs, which often get fatigued due to our body weight and gravity, not only relieves fatigue but also stimulates the meridians connected to the liver, gallbladder, bladder, and kidneys, promoting organ function. It can also help shape a perfect body posture.

[Feet]

1. Massage from the center of the sole towards the toes. Repeat the same method on the other side.

2. Hold your right foot with both hands and use your thumbs to press the center of the sole (Yongquan acupuncture point), then massage towards the heel.

3. Start from the center of the sole and massage the sides. This will relieve tension in the toes and arch of the foot. The feet are like mini representations of the body! Therefore, massaging the feet can relieve overall fatigue. It is particularly effective for those who walk or sit for long periods and those who have excessive weight burdening their feet. We also recommend this method for ladies who frequently wear high heels.

4. Use your thumbs to gently press and massage the inner side of the foot (arch).

5. Hold the sides of your foot and use your thumbs to massage the space between the toe bones. Massage towards the ankle.

6. Use your thumb to massage the area just below the inner side of the foot.

7. Use the palm of your right hand to rub along the shinbone, starting from the ankle and moving up to the knee.

This massage technique helps to eliminate blood stasis, preventing leg swelling. It also aids in the elimination of waste products through the kidneys and promotes fresh blood flow to the heart.
